Masque of the Black Rose Ezreal

Not gonna lie, when Riot dropped the Masque of the Black Rose line I wasnt expecting Ezreal to fit the aesthetic this well. The whole masked ball fantasy felt like it belonged to mages and enchanters, not a poke ADC who spams Q from a screen away. But here we are. Locked this in around 2 AM the night it hit the shop, and I’ve been running it in Diamond since mid-January. The skin just works.

How Masque of the Black Rose changes Ezreal

First thing you notice is the model. Ezreal’s wearing this ornate half-mask with dark gold trim, fitted coat with rose motifs running down the sleeves. The whole silhouette reads differently from his base. More theatrical. More deliberate. Riot leaned hard into the masquerade theme and it shows in every animation.

The VFX are where the 1350 RP earns its keep. Q shoots out with this deep crimson trail, almost like ink dissolving in water. Feels heavier than base Ezreal Q which I think actually helps with aim tracking in lane. W marks targets with a rose sigil that blooms on contact. Pretty clean visual feedback for proccing the passive in trades. E blink leaves behind scattered petals instead of the usual arcane flash. Subtle change but it reads so much better in teamfights when you’re repositioning around the backline.

The R is the highlight. Trueshot Barrage fires this massive wave of dark rose energy with thorned edges. Sniped a low-health Jinx from bot lane to mid last Tuesday with it and the kill particle was genuinely satisfying. (Random aside: my duo partner thought it was a Swain ability the first time he saw it.) Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is expected at this price point. The recall animation though is new and fits the theme perfectly. Ezreal adjusts his mask, does this theatrical bow. Clean stuff.

Masque of the Black Rose Ezreal dropped January 9, 2025. Season 15, right at the start. Park Jun Seong and West Studio handled the artwork, and they captured something moody without going full edgelord. The splash has Ezreal mid-stride through what looks like a Noxian ballroom, mask half-raised. Confident energy.

The Masque of the Black Rose line pulls from Noxian high society lore. Black Rose is LeBlanc’s whole thing obviously, so the skinline has this secretive aristocratic vibe running through it. Ezreal fits as the charming outsider who talked his way into the party. Kinda feels like Riot wanted to give him something darker than his usual bright explorer aesthetic, and this was the angle.

8 chromas total. Tanzanite is my go-to because the deep purple mask against the dark coat just hits different in loading screen. Emerald gives a poison-themed look that reads almost like a different skin entirely. Pearl goes pale and ghostly, works if you want the phantom-at-the-ball vibe. Been playing maybe 30 games with Tanzanite specifically and I dont see myself switching back to base chroma anytime soon.

Is 1350 RP fair for this Ezreal skin?

Real verdict: Masque of the Black Rose Ezreal sits comfortably in the upper half of his Epic skins. Ezreal has a massive skin catalog at this point. Star Guardian, Battle Academia, Porcelain Protector, Heartsteel. Competition is real. But this one carves out its own lane. The dark elegant theme is unique in his lineup. Nothing else gives you that Noxian masquerade energy.

Could be wrong here but I think this ages better than some of his flashier options. The VFX are distinct without being noisy, which matters when you’re playing Ezreal at a level where you need to track your own Q through chaotic fights. Spammed this in ranked for about three weeks straight, something like 40 games, and the animations never got visually tiring. That’s rare for me with Ezreal skins specifically.

Shop has it, 1350 RP, standard Epic pricing. Worth it if you main Ezreal and want something that breaks away from his usual bright color palette. If you’re an Ezreal one-trick with ten skins already, this still brings something fresh. If you only play him occasionally in ARAM, maybe wait for Your Shop rotation. But for mains? Top three Ezreal skin. Been daily driving it this whole season and the novelty hasnt worn off. That says enough.
