First time I saw Space Groove Nasus load in, I thought someone was trolling. Nasus in a disco outfit with an afro and platform shoes. Looked like something out of a fever dream. But then the VFX started popping off in lane and I got it. Riot turned the Curator of the Sands into a full-on funk machine and honestly not gonna lie, it works way better than it has any right to.

What the skin actually changes on Nasus

The model rework here is wild for an Epic tier skin. Nasus gets a massive afro, bell-bottom pants, platform boots, and his staff turns into this disco ball scepter thing. The color palette is all purples, pinks, and teals. Pure 70s space funk energy.

Q stacks hit different with this one. Every Siphoning Strike lands with this groovy particle burst, like little music notes and stars exploding out. Been stacking in top lane with this skin for maybe 40 games now and the Q bonk sound is genuinely satisfying. Makes the grind to 400 stacks feel less painful somehow. His W, Wither, throws down this funky teal slow zone that looks cleaner than base. Way easier to track in teamfights when you’re peeling for your ADC.

E drops a disco floor instead of the usual spirit fire circle. Kinda feels like Nasus is setting up a dance floor mid-fight. The R transformation is where it peaks though. Fury of the Sands turns him into this massive glowing disco god, particles flying everywhere. Not a Legendary so no new voice lines – voice stays default, Erik Todd Dellums doing his thing. But the visual upgrade on ult alone carries.

The recall animation has Nasus busting out dance moves on a light-up floor. Short and sweet. Seen maybe 5 Space Groove Nasus players in my Diamond games all season and every single time the recall gets spam pinged by someone on the team.

Space Groove line and release context

Space Groove Nasus dropped April 1, 2021. Part of the first Space Groove batch alongside Lulu, Blitz and Crank, Rumble, and a few others. West Studio handled the artwork and they captured that retro-futuristic disco vibe perfectly in the splash. Nasus is striking a pose with his staff raised, lights everywhere.

The Space Groove skinline is one of Riot’s more creative theme drops. Takes champions and throws them into this interdimensional disco universe. Some champs fit it naturally, others feel forced. Nasus lands somewhere in the middle – the contrast between his serious base personality and the goofy disco aesthetic is part of the charm.

9 chromas total which is a lot for one skin. Tanzanite goes deep purple and reads really well against the Rift, thats probably my favorite. Disco chroma hits the hardest thematically with that teal-to-purple gradient, feels like the “true” version of the skin. Obsidian exists for the edgy crowd who want dark Nasus but still want the groove VFX. (random aside: the Catseye chroma makes him look like a banana and I cannot unsee it)

Is Space Groove Nasus worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: if you play Nasus at all, this skin deserves a spot in your rotation. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New model, full VFX overhaul on every ability, custom recall. No new VO but that’s standard for Epic skins so cant really dock points there.

Could be wrong here but I think this is a top three Nasus skin. Infernal Nasus has the legacy factor and Battlecast goes hard on the fantasy, but Space Groove brings something completely different to the table. It’s the fun pick. The one you lock in when you’re not taking the game too seriously but still want to look clean while you splitpush to 600 stacks at 25 minutes.

Played this in ranked last weekend around midnight, had a game where I hit 1000 stacks and the disco particles on every Q were actually distracting my own team. One guy in post-game said he kept watching my bonks instead of cs-ing. Shop has it permanently so no rush, but if you main Nasus and you dont own this yet, it’s an easy pickup. The skin just hits different when you’re two-shotting towers late-game with funk particles flying everywhere. S-tier Nasus cosmetic for the price point.
