Space Groove Ornn

First time I saw Space Groove Ornn load in, I thought someone was trolling with a custom skin. Ornn in a disco theme felt wrong on paper. Big grumpy ram god covered in funky neon particles and groovy animations. But after locking it in for maybe 40 ranked games this season, I get it now. Not gonna lie, it grew on me harder than I expected.

What Space Groove actually does to Ornn

The model rework is solid for an Epic. Ornn gets this retro-futuristic look with pastel purples and teals all over his armor. His horns have that signature Space Groove crystalline glow, and the bellows he carries looks like some kind of cosmic synthesizer. The whole vibe reads “interdimensional blacksmith who DJs on weekends.” Works better than it should.

Q drops a pillar that pulses with groovy energy rings. Subtle change but it reads clean on the Rift. W is where it gets interesting: the brittle proc flame breath has these swirling disco particles that actually look distinct from base Ornn’s fire. Easier to track in a messy teamfight, which matters when youre trying to land the brittle pop on their backline. E charge feels the same visually, just recolored. Fine.

The R though. Call of the Forge God sends out this massive cosmic ram with Space Groove particle trails, and the recast headbutt erupts in a burst of funky light. Played a game last Thursday where I ulted through dragon pit into a 4-man engage and the VFX explosion felt genuinely satisfying. The recall animation has Ornn forging something on a little cosmic anvil while grooving to music. Charming detail.

Voice lines stay base, no VO refresh. Standard for 1350 RP Epics so no complaints there.

The Space Groove line and where Ornn fits

Space Groove dropped as a skinline back in 2021, and Ornn joined the roster November 17, 2022. Late addition to the theme. Jeremy ‘Jermu’ Anninos nailed the splash – Ornn looks massive and imposing even surrounded by all the disco aesthetics. The splash captures this balance between his serious demeanor and the ridiculous theme that the in-game model pulls off too.

Space Groove as a line is one of Riot’s more creative concepts. Lulu, Nasus, Blitzcrank, Rumble all got skins in this universe. Ornn fits the set surprisingly well because his forge fantasy translates into “cosmic craftsman” without losing character identity. Kinda feels like the design team specifically wanted a tanky top laner in the lineup and Ornn was the perfect candidate.

8 chromas total. Obsidian is the standout for me, goes full dark mode and the contrast with the groovy particles hits different. Rainbow is the meme pick but I think it actually looks clean in game. Pearl washes out a bit on certain maps. (Random aside: my duo partner bought every single chroma day one and I still give him grief about it.) Could be wrong here but I think Ruby might be the most popular one based on what I see in my Diamond games.

Is Space Groove Ornn worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: if you main Ornn, this is a must-buy. Before this skin, Ornn mains had Thunder Lord and Elderwood. Thunder Lord is solid but basic. Elderwood is great. Space Groove sits comfortably as the fun alternative. Different energy entirely.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on every ability, clean recall, strong splash art. No new voice lines but thats expected at this price point. The skin doesn’t change gameplay feel which is important for a champ where you need to track brittle procs and ult timing precisely. Been running this in ranked since about season 13 and the VFX have never caused me to misread my own abilities.

Shop has it, permanent availability. For Ornn one-tricks specifically, you probably already own this. For anyone picking up Ornn as a tank option for climbing in top lane or looking to round out their comp with a reliable engage tank, Space Groove Ornn is the skin that makes the grind feel less like a grind. Three things stood out: ult VFX, recall animation, chroma variety. Top pick for Ornn mains who want something lighter than Elderwood’s aesthetic. Skip it only if you genuinely hate the disco theme, but even then, the Obsidian chroma fixes that.
