Space Groove Nami

First game I played with Space Groove Nami was a late night ranked session, maybe 1 AM on a Wednesday. Locked her in for support, loaded into the Rift, and the whole vibe just shifted. The disco aesthetic on Nami works way better than it has any right to. Not gonna lie, I wasnt expecting much from another Space Groove drop but this one surprised me. The colors pop hard against Summoner’s Rift, especially in river fights where Nami already feels at home.

What Space Groove Nami actually brings to the table

This is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP, so you’re getting the full package of new VFX and a new recall animation. Voice lines stay base, no new VO. The W bounce between allies and enemies has this groovy trail effect that makes it easier to track visually in teamfights, which I think is a genuine gameplay clarity upgrade over base Nami. Could be wrong here but the bubble on Q feels slightly more visible too with the pink and purple particle work.

The recall is where the disco fantasy really sells itself. Nami gets a full dance sequence with a disco ball, fits the Space Groove theme perfectly. Been running this skin in Diamond support games for a while now and the recall spam between waves in lane is genuinely fun. Small thing but it matters when you’re playing 6 hours of ranked.

Her ult is the highlight though. Tidal Wave comes through with these massive retro wave patterns, purples and pinks rolling across the lane. In a dragon pit teamfight last season I landed a five-person ult and my duo said it looked like a rave hit them. Fair description honestly. The E buff on your ADC also gets a funky particle overlay that reads cleanly without being distracting. Riot found the sweet spot between flashy and functional here.

(Random sidebar: the loading screen splash is genuinely one of the better ones in the Space Groove line. Had it as my Discord profile pic for like two months.)

The Space Groove line and release context

Space Groove Nami dropped November 17, 2022. Late into season 12. Huyy Nguyen and West Studio handled the artwork, and they captured the retro-futuristic energy well. The splash has Nami floating through this cosmic disco environment with her staff glowing, whole thing reads like a 70s album cover filtered through League’s art style.

The Space Groove skinline is one of Riot’s more creative themes. Feels like they gave the art team full creative freedom and it paid off. Nami fits naturally into it because her fluid animations translate well to dance-like movements. Compare her to some of the more rigid champions in the line and you can tell the Nami version had an easier time selling the fantasy.

8 chromas total for this skin. Obsidian is my personal pick, the dark color scheme against the groovy VFX creates this contrast that just works in game. Rose Quartz leans into the pink aesthetic harder if thats your thing, gives her a more cohesive pastel look. Rainbow chroma exists too for when you want maximum visual chaos in your bot lane. I’ve seen maybe 4 or 5 Nami players using the Rainbow variant in my games all season and it definitely turns heads. Permanent shop availability so you can grab it any time.

Is Space Groove Nami worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: for Nami mains this is a strong pickup. Might be overthinking it but I rank this in the top 3 Nami skins alongside Cosmic Destiny and Splendid Staff. The VFX are clean, the theme is unique, and the chromas give you options if the base purple doesn’t click for you.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. You’re not getting new voice lines at this tier, standard for Epic skins, but the visual overhaul carries the weight. Been maining Nami with this skin on and off since it dropped and I keep coming back to it over her other options. The Q bubble specifically just reads better to me with the Space Groove particles, and when you’re trying to land bubbles on a Katarina diving your backline in a late-game teamfight, visual clarity matters.

Skip it if you already own Cosmic Destiny and only play Nami occasionally. But if she’s in your regular champion pool for ranked, or if you’re a support main who rotates through enchanters, this one earns its spot. The disco theme aged well and I dont see it getting powercrept any time soon. Solid skin, no regrets on the purchase.
