First game I loaded into with Coven Nami I sat in fountain for like ten seconds just watching the idle animation. Not gonna lie, I wasnt expecting Riot to go this hard on a support skin. The whole vibe shifted from bubbly ocean healer to something genuinely unsettling. Dark water magic, thorned coral, this eerie presence that makes your ADC do a double take in champ select. Played maybe 40 games with it the first two weeks after launch and the novelty still hasnt worn off.

How Coven Nami actually plays different

This is a full Legendary at 1820 RP so you get the complete package: new model, new VFX on every ability, new voice lines, and a new recall. The Q bubble is the standout for me. Instead of the standard water bubble, it’s this dark arcane sphere with thorny tendrils that close around whoever you trap. Caught their Jinx near dragon pit last Thursday and the animation looked brutal on impact. Clean read too, no visual clutter messing with your gameplay.

W bounce has this deep violet trail between targets. Reads well in teamfights which matters more than people think. When you’re peeling for your backline and bouncing heals through three people, you need to track where the spell is going. Coven Nami handles that better than most of her skins honestly.

E enchant puts these dark crystalline shards on your ADC’s autos. Subtle change but satisfying to see proc on each hit. The R is where it gets wild though. Tidal Wave transforms into this massive wall of dark energy and thorns surging forward. Kinda feels like a completely different champion ult. The size reads slightly different to me in game, might be overthinking it but the visual weight makes it feel bigger than base Nami R.

The voice lines deserve their own mention. Cassandra Lee Morris delivered something genuinely creepy here. Gone is the cheerful “I’m really making a splash” energy. Coven Nami speaks in these low, deliberate tones about old gods and forbidden pacts. Been maining Nami with this skin since season 13 and I still catch new voice interactions I missed. The VO alone justifies the Legendary price tag for me.

Recall animation has Nami performing some kind of dark ritual with swirling water and thorns. Short enough that it doesnt feel like a liability if you accidentally cancel it, detailed enough to feel premium. Good balance.

The Coven line and where Nami fits

Released October 11, 2023. Late into the season 13 cycle. Joshua Raphael and West Studio handled the splash, and they cooked. The composition pulls Nami into this forest clearing with dark magic radiating outward. One of the stronger Coven splashes in the whole line if you ask me.

The Coven skinline is one of Riot’s best thematic sets. Period. Coven Lissandra, Coven Zyra, Coven Camille, they all hit. Nami joining that roster felt right because the ocean-meets-dark-magic contrast gives her something none of her other skins touch. (Random aside: my duo partner who’s a Nami one-trick literally changed her summoner icon the day this dropped, thats how much the splash hit.)

6 chromas total if you want variety. Profane is the one I keep coming back to, the teal and magenta split looks incredible against the Rift’s green tones. Pearl goes for a ghostly white aesthetic that reads almost like an entirely separate skin. Ruby exists but real talk though, Ruby on dark-themed skins never quite lands for me. The base Coven colors are already perfect so I’d say grab Profane if you’re picking one and skip the rest unless you’re a completionist.

Still in the shop at full Legendary price. No vault rotation worries, no loot-only nonsense. You can buy it right now whenever you want.

Is Coven Nami worth 1820 RP?

Straight talk: this is the Nami skin if you can only own one. I’ve gone back and forth between Coven and Cosmic Destiny Nami for months and Coven wins every time. The new voice lines carry so much personality that going back to base VO feels hollow. Could be wrong here but I think this is also one of the better Legendary skins Riot put out in 2023 across all champions, not just supports.

1820 RP well spent for mains. If you’re a Nami one-trick climbing in Diamond or anywhere else, this skin just hits on every level. New VFX that read clean in lane, voice lines that don’t get annoying after 200 games, a recall that feels earned. The Q and R visuals specifically give you that “I’m the threat” energy that support mains rarely get to feel.

Only skip scenario I can think of: if you genuinely prefer the cute ocean aesthetic of base Nami and her lighter skins. Coven goes full dark fantasy and there’s no middle ground. But if you’ve ever wanted your enchanter to feel dangerous while you’re landing bubbles in bot lane, this is it. Been daily driving Coven Nami since October 2023 and I don’t see that changing anytime soon. Maybe around 3 AM last weekend I thought about switching to Splendid Staff for one game. Loaded in, saw the Coven splash on the loading screen, zero regrets. Top pick for Nami mains, no question.
