First time I saw Space Groove Rumble load into a game, I thought someone modded the client. The mech turns into this funky disco robot with groovy color splashes everywhere, and Rumble himself looks like he’s piloting a jukebox from the 70s. Honestly not gonna lie, I wasnt expecting much from a Rumble skin in 2021 but this one caught me off guard. Played maybe 30 games with it the first week it dropped.
The VFX carry this skin hard
So the big deal here is the particle work. Every ability got the Space Groove treatment and it shows. Q flames come out in these swirling pink and teal waves that look nothing like base Rumble. Feels like you’re hosing the enemy laner with pure funk energy instead of fire. The overheat effect shifts the color palette too, which is a nice touch most people miss.
W shield pops with this bubbly iridescent coating. Clean visual read in teamfights, actually easier to track than some of his other skins. E harpoons trail these sparkly disco particles behind them. Not the most dramatic change but it reads well on the Rift.
R is where it gets fun. The Equalizer drops these groovy zone markers that pulse with rhythm. Been spamming this in Diamond and I can tell you the ult zone is slightly easier to see than default, which matters when you’re zoning the backline during dragon fights. Could be wrong here but I think the hitbox visual reads a tiny bit wider than base even though it’s identical mechanically.
The recall animation is peak. Rumble starts DJ-ing on his mech. Short and sweet. (Random aside: I’ve clipped the recall like four times just to show my duo partner because it’s that clean.)
Voice lines stay base. No VO refresh. Standard for a 1350 RP Epic tier skin, so no complaints there.
Space Groove and where this skin fits
Space Groove launched April 1, 2021. The whole skinline dropped that patch with Nasus, Blitz, Lulu, and a few others. Marie Magny and West Studio handled the artwork, and they captured the retro-space-disco vibe perfectly on that splash. Rumble’s mech looks massive in the splash compared to in-game but thats just Riot splash art doing its thing.
The Space Groove line is one of Riot’s more creative thematic sets. Not every champion fits the vibe naturally but Rumble in a disco mech? Works better than it should. The color palette pulls from that 70s funk aesthetic, lots of teals, pinks, oranges. Season 11 had some solid skin releases and this was quietly one of the better ones.
9 chromas total if you want variety. Obsidian goes full dark mode which honestly looks cleaner than the base in some lighting. Disco chroma leans into the theme even harder with that teal-purple split, probably my favorite. Amethyst works too if you want something more subtle. Not gonna list all nine because you can preview them in the shop, but the range is solid for a 1350 skin.
Should you pick this up?
Rumble has five skins total and this is competing with Super Galaxy, which is a Legendary. Different price bracket though. For 1350 RP, Space Groove Rumble delivers. The VFX overhaul is thorough, the recall is fun, the theme is unique in Rumble’s catalog. Super Galaxy gives you new VO and transforms but costs more. Space Groove gives you style for less.
Real talk though. If you main Rumble top or play him jungle, this skin just hits different in ranked. Took this into a Diamond 2 game last Tuesday and the enemy Irelia pinged my skin in all chat. Small thing but it felt good. The particles are readable, the model is fresh, and the chromas give you options for when you get bored of the base look after 50 games.
Shop has it. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. Not the flashiest Epic in the game but for Rumble mains specifically this is top pick material. Skip it if you already own Super Galaxy and dont play Rumble enough to justify two skins. But if you’re looking for one solid Rumble cosmetic at a reasonable price, Space Groove is the answer. Been my go-to Rumble skin since it released and I keep coming back to it over everything else in his lineup.
