First game I played with Nightbringer Nasus was around 3 AM on a Wednesday, and I remember thinking Riot finally gave the dog his due. Not gonna lie, Nasus has some solid skins already but this one felt different loading in. The splash alone had me locked. Dark cosmic energy, massive halberd, the whole corrupted god aesthetic. Banger first impression.
What Nightbringer Nasus actually brings to the table
The model overhaul is significant for an Epic. Nasus goes full dark deity here, armored plates with glowing red-orange cracks running through them like hes about to split apart from the power inside. The halberd redesign is clean. Heavy, jagged, looks like it was forged in whatever dimension the Nightbringer line pulls from.
Q stacks feel more satisfying with the new VFX. Every Siphoning Strike lands with this burst of dark energy particles that spread across the ground. Been stacking in Diamond games all season and the visual feedback on a 700-stack Q bonking someone is genuinely better than base. The W slow field got a rework too, dark tendrils pulling from the ground instead of the default circle. Reads well in teamfights when you need to peel for your ADC or lock down the enemy backline.
E Spirit Fire drops this corrupted zone that pulses with Nightbringer energy. Looks menacing in lane when you’re zoning the enemy toplaner off cs. Could be wrong here but I think the R transformation is where the skin peaks. Fury of the Sands turns Nasus into this towering nightmare figure, the dark energy amplifies, particles swirl harder. Played maybe 40 games with this skin and every ult still feels impactful visually.
New recall animation too. Solid work there. Voice lines stay base, no VO refresh, which is expected at 1350 RP. Erik Todd Dellums already delivered one of the best champion voices in the game so keeping it makes sense.
The Nightbringer line and release context
Nightbringer Nasus dropped April 20, 2023. Late into season 13. The Nightbringer and Dawnbringer skinline has been one of Riot’s more consistent thematic runs. Yasuo, Lee Sin, Kayn all got strong entries. Nasus fits the corrupted power fantasy naturally since the champion already channels this ancient unstoppable force vibe.
Herbie Wang and Kudos Productions handled the splash. They captured the scale perfectly, Nasus towering over a shattered landscape with that halberd raised. (Random aside: this splash is genuinely wallpaper material, been using it on my desktop since release.)
8 chromas total. Tanzanite is my pick, the deep purple shifts the whole mood from chaotic evil to something more regal. Rainbow is the wild card, multicolor energy running through the armor cracks looks busy but fun. Emerald converts the fire tones to green which reads like a poison variant. Rest are solid but those three stand out from the pack.
Shop has it. 1350 RP, standard Epic pricing.
Should you pick up Nightbringer Nasus?
Real verdict: this is a strong contender for best Nasus skin. Infernal Nasus held that spot for years and honestly still competes, but Nightbringer brings modern VFX quality that Infernal cant match anymore. The particle work on Q alone justifies the purchase if you’re a Nasus main grinding stacks in top lane.
Kinda feels like Riot understood the assignment here. Nasus players want to feel like an inevitable late-game threat, and the Nightbringer aesthetic delivers that better than most of his catalog. The dark energy scaling visually with your ult is chef’s kiss level design for a stacking champion.
1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New model, full VFX overhaul, new recall, 8 chromas if you want variety. If you one-trick Nasus or even just have him in your top lane rotation for when you need a scaling pick into a favorable comp, this skin earns its spot. Been running this as my default Nasus skin since that first 3 AM game last spring and havent looked back. Top pick for Nasus mains, simple as that.
