First time I saw Dreadknight Nasus loading in was back in season 2 and I remember thinking Riot finally gave the dog some edge. Not gonna lie, the base Nasus model aged rough even by 2011 standards, so slapping dark armor on him felt like a massive upgrade at the time. Played maybe 40 games with this skin last month in Diamond just to revisit it and the vibe still holds up more than you’d expect.
What Dreadknight Nasus actually changes
This is a Standard tier skin at 975 RP so temper expectations. No new VFX on Q stacks, no fancy ult transformation, no recall animation. Voice lines stay base. What you get is a full model swap: dark plate armor, a massive executioner-style halberd replacing the default staff, and glowing red eyes under a horned helmet. The Dreadknights theme leans heavy into that death knight fantasy and Nasus wears it well.
The weapon change is the standout. Siphoning Strike with that halberd just reads differently in lane. Feels heavier. Could be wrong here but I swear the Q animation looks slightly more satisfying with the longer weapon model, even though Riot didnt touch any animations. Placebo or not, stacking in top lane hits different when you’re swinging a war axe instead of a walking stick.
Spirit Fire and Wither look identical to base. Ult is the same sandstorm effect. For a skin from April 26, 2011, thats expected. No VO refresh either. The splash does most of the heavy lifting here, showing Nasus in full dark armor with that red glow cutting through fog. Solid piece even if I cant find the artist credited anywhere.
The Dreadknights line and chromas
Dreadknights is one of Riot’s older skinlines. Small roster. The theme is straightforward: champions get corrupted dark armor aesthetics. Nothing lore-breaking, just cool alternate fantasy. Nasus fits naturally into the Dreadknights concept because his base design already has that ancient guardian energy, so flipping him to a dark knight works without forcing it.
3 chromas available for Dreadknight Nasus. Plague Frostbite swaps to an icy teal that I think reads the cleanest in game, especially against the green of Summoner’s Rift. Plague Burn goes deep crimson, very edgy, very “I’m the villain now” energy. Plague Blight is the green variant. (Random aside: the plague naming convention on these chromas is kinda metal for a dog in armor.) Shop has it permanently at 975 RP, so no vault anxiety.
Should you lock in Dreadknight Nasus?
Real verdict: if you’re a Nasus one-trick climbing through ranked and you dont want to drop 1820 on Infernal, Dreadknight Nasus is a solid budget pick. 975 RP feels fair for what you get. The model holds up, the weapon swap carries the skin, and those chromas add enough variety to keep it fresh. Been running Plague Frostbite in my Diamond games this week and got a compliment on it in all chat around 1 AM last Tuesday. Small moments.
That said, Nasus has better options now. Armored Titan and Space Groove both offer more for the price. But for pure dark fantasy splitpush vibes where you’re stacking Q and ignoring your team until 25 minutes? Dreadknight earns its spot. Skip it if you already own a Legendary Nasus skin. Worth 975 RP if you main Nasus and want something affordable that still looks threatening when you walk out of top lane with 400 stacks and start running at the backline.
