Infernal Olaf released May 30, 2024 and honestly I didn’t expect it to hit as hard as it does. Olaf as a fire demon is almost too obvious a fit – the guy dives into backlines like he’s trying to die, so wrapping him in hellfire just completes the picture. Picked it up day one and been grinding ranked with it in Diamond ever since. Not gonna lie, I went 11-2 the first week with it, but thats probably just the new skin buff kicking in.
What actually changes in-game
Full model rework. The base swap to charred plate armor and burning axe heads is clean – not overdesigned, just solid execution for an Epic tier skin.
New VFX on all abilities is the real selling point at 1350 RP. The Q – Undertow axe throw – leaves a trailing fire arc that reads better in chaotic teamfights. You can actually track where the axes land, which matters for repositioning pre-6 in the jungle. W self-buff lights him up properly, flames climbing the model during the attack speed steroid. E – Reckless Swing – has a satisfying burst of fire on proc. R is where it really lands: Ragnarok activates with a full body flame burst, and the model shifts to a deep burning red mid-ult. Could be wrong here but the ult visual specifically makes the engage read more threatening when you’re diving the enemy backline.
New recall too. He slams both axes down and gets consumed by fire. Dramatic, fits the skin. (random aside: been using this recall to taunt opponents near drake pit, at least three times this month it turned into a free kill because they walked into range off tilt)
Voice lines stay base. Standard for this price point.
The Infernal skinline and where this fits
The Infernal skinline has been in League since around season four or five. There’s Infernal Diana, Infernal Nasus, Infernal Alistar, Infernal Karthus among others. Big roster at this point. Quality varies across champions but Infernal Olaf lands in the upper half of the set for me.
Olaf fits the theme because his kit is pure aggression – he dives, ignores CC with R, keeps swinging regardless of what the enemy comp throws at him. Wrapping that in demon fire just tracks. Nathaniel Himawan put in the work here on the splash alongside West Studio. The key art shows him mid-charge, both axes burning, full feral energy. Good splash.
There’s 8 chromas total available with this skin. Catseye runs bright yellow, almost like a lightning-fire hybrid – genuinely different feel from the default red-orange palette. Amethyst shifts everything purple, which I think hits harder for players who prefer a void or dark magic angle on the Infernal theme. Ruby stays closest to base, straight crimson. The other five exist but those three are worth calling out specifically.
Is Infernal Olaf worth 1350 RP?
Real verdict: yes, if you main Olaf. Full Epic package – new model, new VFX on every ability, new recall. That’s what 1350 buys and this delivers on all three. The readability improvement on the Q specifically is something you actually feel after a few jungle clears, not just in collection view.
Dragonslayer Olaf is the main comparison in the catalog – older, still decent. Pentakill III Lost Chapter exists if the rock aesthetic does it for you. Infernal outclasses Dragonslayer on raw VFX quality though, not much debate there.
Shop stock, always there. Loot eligible too. Worth 1350 RP for Olaf mains and one of the cleaner Epics released in 2024. Spamming ranked with Infernal Olaf since day one and haven’t seriously thought about swapping back.
