Pentakill Olaf

Pentakill Olaf puts the Berserker in heavy metal band gear and replaces his axes with guitar-shaped weapons. October 1, 2012 at 975 RP. Pan Chengwei went hard on the splash showing Olaf mid-headbang with his guitar-axes raised. He was part of the original Pentakill lineup alongside Mordekaiser, Sona, Karthus, and Yorick. Before Pentakill became an actual band with albums and Worlds performances, it was just a fun skin concept. Olaf as the drummer/berserker of the group still makes me grin whenever I see it in champ select.

Heavy metal Viking in the top lane

The model redesigns Olaf with a sleeveless band shirt, leather pants, and those guitar-axes that look ridiculous in the best way. The headband keeps his Viking hair in check. After Olaf’s visual updates the Pentakill model adapted well to the new champion frame. Some VFX updates came with the skinline refresh. Undertow on Q throws a guitar-axe with subtle music-themed particles. Ragnarok on R activates with a faint rock energy pulse.

At 975 RP you get more than a model swap but the VFX changes are subtle rather than dramatic. No chromas. Permanent shop availability. Voice stays default. Part of the Pentakill skinline. The recall has Olaf doing a brief headbang animation which is fun but short.

Metal Olaf vs modern options

Olaf’s best skins for ranked are Sentinel and Dragonslayer at Epic tier. Both have complete VFX packages. Pentakill sits in the 975 RP tier with mild particle changes and the band aesthetic. The question is whether you value the heavy metal fantasy enough to run it over objectively better-looking alternatives.

For Pentakill fans specifically, Pentakill III: Lost Chapter Olaf at Epic exists with updated band visuals. That one has better VFX and modern production quality. Original Pentakill Olaf is the vintage version. Could be coping but I think there’s a charm to the original band outfit that the Lost Chapter redesign doesnt fully capture. The guitar-axes are goofier on the original and goofy Olaf running at you with Ragnarok popped is funnier than polished Olaf doing the same thing. At 975 RP its cheap enough to own alongside the Lost Chapter version. Metal collection complete.
