Forsaken Olaf is a 520 RP skin from June 8, 2010. Thats over fifteen years ago. Back when skins were basically just recolors with maybe a new helmet. This one gives Olaf a darker, more decrepit viking look and honestly for 520 RP from the early days of League, it holds up better than you would expect after the Olaf visual updates over the years. Not sure if it’s just me but there’s something about the darker armor that just fits Olaf’s whole berserker fantasy better than the base skin does.
What 520 RP gets you in 2010
The model changes Olaf’s color palette to darker tones. More weathered armor, grimmer expression on the face. The axes look rustier, more battle-worn with a darker metal finish. The shoulder pads and chest piece have this decayed look that makes Olaf seem like he crawled out of a battlefield he should have died on. No new VFX on abilities. No new voice lines from Brian Sommer. No new recall animation. This is a pure model swap skin from an era when that was the standard for 520 RP.
Undertow on Q throws the same axe with the same particles. Vicious Strikes on W has base effects. Reckless Swing on E does true damage with the same visual. Ragnarok on R activates with the same effects. You are buying the look, not the experience. Sits in the Legacy vault so you cant just grab it from the shop whenever you want. No chromas available.
In-game impressions
Took this into ranked for a few games back in season 12 I think after rolling it from a chest. The darker model does read differently in lane compared to base Olaf. Your opponent in top lane sees this grimmer looking viking running at them with Ghost and Ragnarok popped and honestly the slightly darker tones make it look a tiny bit more menacing during an all-in. Probably copium but thats how it felt. In teamfights nobody notices though, its all particle effects and chaos at that point and Forsaken Olaf doesnt change any particles (random aside: I miss the old Olaf W attack speed steroid before they reworked his kit, felt like a genuine berserker).
Who buys Forsaken Olaf in 2026
Collectors and Olaf mains who want to own everything. Thats about it. Olaf has Sentinel, Dragonslayer, and Pentakill III at Epic tier, all of which offer more visual value. Brolaf at Legendary is the premium option with a full voice rework. Forsaken Olaf is a piece of League history more than a competitive skin choice. If it drops from Hextech crafting and you play Olaf, keep it. But I wouldnt spend reroll resources specifically chasing a 520 RP Legacy skin when better options exist at every price point above it. The dark viking aesthetic is cool in isolation but when you compare it side by side with Dragonslayer or Sentinel the gap in quality is massive. Fair enough for 2010 standards. Hard to recommend for anyone who isnt trying to complete the collection.
