Pentakill Mordekaiser

Mordekaiser was the original Pentakill frontman. September 21, 2010. Back when Pentakill was just a fun skin concept and not an actual band with albums. Pan Chengwei did the splash showing Mordekaiser shredding a guitar made from his mace. The concept of a heavy metal undead warlord playing guitar should not work as well as it does but League has always been weird like that. Might be overthinking it but I think this skin basically created the entire Pentakill music project just by existing.

Metal lord at 975 RP

The model redesigns Mordekaiser with a heavy metal musician aesthetic. Spiked leather jacket over the armor, band-style outfit with studs and chains, the mace reimagined with guitar elements worked into the head of the weapon. The helmet keeps that Mordekaiser silhouette but adds some rockstar flair with sharper angles. After the Mordekaiser rework in 2019 the skin got updated to fit the new model while keeping the metal identity. The new Morde model is way bigger and more imposing so the Pentakill outfit scales up nicely on the larger frame.

Some VFX updates came with the rework. Obliterate on Q slams with subtle music-themed particles. The passive iron-man aura has a faint rock energy effect that swirls around you in lane. Indestructible on W shields with base-ish effects. Realm of Death on R drags enemies into a Death Realm with slight Pentakill aesthetic changes. The arena has a concert stage vibe if you look closely, like you are pulling your opponent into a private metal concert where you are the only performer and they are about to get soloed.

At 975 RP you get more than a pure model swap but less than what a modern 1350 RP Epic delivers. No chromas. Fred Tatasciore’s Mordekaiser voice applies, no new lines. New recall with guitar shredding animation which is honestly the highlight of the skin. Sits in the shop permanently. Part of the Pentakill skinline. Locked this in for a ranked session last month in Diamond and trapped their Darius in the Death Realm at dragon pit. The concert arena backdrop while you 1v1 someone is genuinely fun every time (sidebar: Mordekaiser R is still the most satisfying ability in the game and the Pentakill version makes it better).

Classic Mordekaiser option

Mordekaiser now has Sahn-Uzal at Exalted tier, PROJECT at Legendary, Dark Star at Epic, and Pentakill III: Lost Chapter at Epic. Pentakill original sits below all of those in terms of production quality but it has the nostalgia factor. This was the skin that started the Pentakill band concept that eventually became real albums, real music, and real concerts at Worlds. Been running this in normals since around season 10 I think. At 975 RP its affordable enough that any Mordekaiser player should own it just for the history. The recall animation alone is worth the price. Use it in normals when you want to feel like a metal god. Use your Exalted or Legendary for ranked. 975 RP feels fair for what you get here.
