Pentakill Yorick

First time I saw Pentakill Yorick load in, season 2 or 3 I think, I genuinely thought it was a custom skin someone modded in. Yorick swinging a bass guitar instead of his shovel just hit different. Still does. Not gonna lie, this skin lives in my rotation more than it probably should for something released back in 2011.

What Pentakill Yorick actually brings

The whole fantasy here is Yorick as the bassist for Pentakill, Riot’s in-universe metal band. His shovel gets swapped for this massive double-neck bass guitar and he uses it to bonk people in lane. Thats the core appeal right there. The model swap is clean for a 975 RP skin, especially one this old.

VFX got some love. His ghouls and the Maiden have subtle green particle tweaks that lean into the dark metal aesthetic. Nothing crazy, but enough that you notice it during a teamfight. The Q smack with the guitar feels weighty in a way that base Yorick doesn’t. Could be wrong here but I swear the auto attack animation reads slightly different too, like hes strumming the thing.

Voice lines stay base. No new VO, which makes sense for a Standard tier skin from that era. Riot wasnt doing custom voice work at this price point back then. Same recall animation as default too. You get the model, the guitar weapon, and the VFX adjustments. For 975 RP released June 22, 2011, that was actually generous.

The Pentakill line and where Yorick fits

Pentakill is one of Riot’s longest running skinlines. Karthus on vocals, Mordekaiser on guitar, Sona on keys, Olaf on drums, and Yorick holding down the bass. The band got actual albums. Real music. The whole thing is surprisingly committed for what started as a joke skin concept.

Pan Chengwei handled the splash art. Clean composition, dark stage lighting, Yorick looking like he’s about to drop the heaviest bass riff the Rift has ever heard. (Random aside: I used this splash as my Discord avatar for like eight months straight back in season 9.)

Pentakill Yorick sits in a weird spot where it’s one of the OG band skins but Yorick himself got a full VGU in 2017. The skin survived the rework and honestly came out better for it. The guitar weapon reads way cleaner on the updated model. Been running this in Diamond splitpush comps and the ghouls pushing a sidelane while you’re swinging a bass guitar at turrets is peak League.

Should you buy Pentakill Yorick?

Real verdict: 975 RP feels fair for what you get. Shop has it, permanent availability, no vault nonsense. If you play Yorick at all and you like the Pentakill fantasy, this is an easy pickup. Last Tuesday I had a game where my Maiden soloed their ADC under tower while I was clearing jungle camps topside. Guitar Yorick diff.

The competition is tough though. Meowrick exists. Resistance Yorick exists. Pentakill III Lost Chapter Yorick exists with way more bells and whistles. But none of them have that raw early-era charm. Simple change – huge impact. A bass guitar instead of a shovel. Sometimes thats all a skin needs to be. Worth 975 if you main Yorick, easy lock-in for anyone who appreciates the Pentakill line. S-tier Yorick cosmetic for the price bracket, no question.
