First time I saw Arclight Yorick load in, I thought someone was trolling with a custom skin. Yorick in gold and white? The gravedigger turned holy warrior? Took me a couple games to realize Riot actually committed to the concept. Been running this in Diamond for a few seasons now on and off, and I think it holds up way better than most people give it credit for.
What the Arclight treatment does to Yorick
The whole color palette flips from Yorick’s usual grimy green-gray to this radiant gold and white divine aesthetic. His shovel becomes something closer to a ceremonial staff, all glowing edges and sacred geometry. Honestly not gonna lie, the silhouette change alone makes him feel like a different champion in lane.
Q hits land with this bright golden burst instead of the usual ghoulish green. Satisfying. The Mist Walkers get the full Arclight makeover too, swapping from shambling corpses to these spectral golden minions. Feels weird at first because you’re so used to the dark theme on Yorick, but it works. W creates a golden cage of light instead of the dark wall, and watching someone panic inside a ring of holy energy in a teamfight hits different than the base skin version.
E is where I noticed the biggest visual upgrade. The dark mist becomes this beam of golden light that marks targets. Much easier to track in chaotic fights, which actually matters when you’re trying to coordinate ganking with your jungler. Could be wrong here but I swear the E feels more visible to teammates too, like they actually follow up more when the mark is bright gold instead of murky green.
The Maiden of the Mist transforms into this angelic figure. Still creepy in her own way, floating around in divine robes, but the contrast with base Yorick’s version is massive. Her particles when she attacks are clean golden streaks. The recall animation has Yorick kneeling in prayer as light descends around him. Simple change – huge impact on the fantasy.
Voice lines stay base, no new VO. Standard for an Epic at 1350 RP. The base voice still works though because Daniel Riordan’s delivery carries enough weight on its own.
The Arclight line and where Yorick fits
Arclight released October 2, 2017. Mid season 7 I think. Alex ‘alexplank’ Flores nailed the splash, capturing Yorick in this cathedral-like pose with golden light pouring through. The composition reads almost like a stained glass window if you squint.
The Arclight skinline is one of Riot’s more understated themes. You got Arclight Varus, Arclight Vel’Koz, Arclight Brand in the same family. Yorick fits the line naturally because the divine warrior angle contrasts so hard with his base kit identity. Thats what makes it interesting. Most Arclight skins just make already-heroic champions shinier, but Arclight Yorick actually recontextualizes the character.
No chromas available for this one. Zero. (Random aside: I keep hoping they’ll add a silver or platinum chroma someday because the gold gets intense after 200 games.) Shop has it at 1350 RP any time you want it, permanent availability.
Should you pick up Arclight Yorick for 1350 RP?
Real verdict: if you play Yorick in ranked at all, this is worth considering. The VFX clarity alone gives it practical value in teamfights and splitpush scenarios where tracking your ghouls matters. Last Thursday around 2 AM I was in a game where the enemy Jax kept losing track of my Maiden because of the golden particles blending with river lighting. Small edge but I’ll take it.
1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX across all abilities, transformed Maiden, solid recall, clean splash. Meowrick exists as the meme pick and Resistance Yorick has the military angle, but Arclight is the one I keep coming back to for serious climbing. Played maybe 200 games with this skin across seasons 10 through 13 and the novelty hasnt worn off.
Not sure if it’s just me but Yorick mains seem split on this one. Some want their gravedigger dark and brooding. Fair enough. But if you’re a Yorick one-trick looking for something that actually changes the vibe of your games in bot lane splitpush or in the top lane specifically, Arclight Yorick is the pick. Top choice for Yorick mains who want the divine fantasy over the undead one. Skip it only if you cant handle your ghouls looking like they attend church on Sundays.
