First time I saw Resistance Yorick load in, I thought someone was playing a different game entirely. The whole post-apocalyptic soldier look on a champion known for ghouls and gravedigging? Felt weird. But weird in a way that actually works once you spend a few dozen games with it. Been running this as my main Yorick skin since around season 11 and honestly its grown on me more than I expected.
What Resistance Yorick actually brings to the table
So the concept here is Yorick as a resistance fighter in the Battlecast universe. Think military fatigues, makeshift armor plating, and a shovel that looks like it was pulled from the wreckage of some giant mech. The ghouls get a full rework visually. They look like little scrap-metal minions now, cobbled together from machine parts. Maiden of the Mist transforms into this hovering drone-like construct. Massive upgrade.
Q slam has new VFX with sparks and mechanical debris flying off on impact. Feels heavier than base. W wall of ghouls rising up has this cool metallic shimmer to it, like rusted panels erupting from the ground. Not gonna lie, the E toss is where it really shines though. The projectile reads so much cleaner against the Rift compared to base Yorick’s murky green blob. You actually see the skillshot trajectory better in teamfights.
R summon for the Maiden is the highlight. She floats in with this industrial hum, all exposed wiring and salvaged armor plates. Played maybe 150 games splitpushing with this skin last season and the Maiden just feels more intimidating pushing a side lane. Could be wrong here but I think the auto attack animations feel slightly snappier too, though thats probably just placebo from the new particles.
Recall animation is solid. Yorick plants his shovel in the ground and these little resistance ghouls salute him before he warps out. Nice touch. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is fine because Daniel Riordan’s original Yorick voice carries enough weight on its own.
The Battlecast line and where this skin fits
Released November 12, 2020. Late into season 10 if I remember right. Zuoan Dong and Kudos Productions handled the artwork, and they nailed the tone. The splash captures this last-stand battlefield vibe perfectly.
The Battlecast skinline is one of Riot’s older sci-fi themes. Yorick sits on the Resistance side of it, fighting against the Battlecast machines. Makes sense thematically. A guy who raises the dead leading a rebellion against robots. (Random aside: the Resistance skins are criminally underrated as a group, Caitlyn and Illaoi got great ones too.)
8 chromas available for this one. Tanzanite is my go-to, the deep purple gives the armor this worn alien-tech look that reads differently from every other Yorick skin. Sapphire hits hard too if you want that cold military blue. Pearl exists for the clean minimalist crowd but I think it washes out too much of the detail work on the ghouls specifically.
This Epic tier skin sits at 1350 RP. Shop has it, permanent availability, no vault nonsense. For Yorick mains climbing in Diamond who want something that isn’t Meowrick or Pentakill, this is the serious option.
Should you pick up Resistance Yorick?
Real verdict: this is a top two Yorick skin depending on your taste. If you want funny, go Meowrick. If you want the skin that actually makes your champion look like a threat in lane, Resistance is the pick. The ghoul and Maiden redesigns alone justify the price.
1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on every ability, completely remodeled summons, solid recall. Missing new voice lines keeps it from being perfect, but that’s standard for Epic tier. Been maining Yorick with this equipped since that ranked game around 3 AM where my jungler refused to gank top and I still 1v2’d their Darius and Kayn under tower. Skin diff. Maybe just my experience but the Maiden AI even seemed to cooperate better that night.
Skip it if you’re not a Yorick player. But if you one-trick the Shepherd of Souls or even just pull him out for splitpush comps, Resistance Yorick earns its spot in your collection. The Battlecast universe treatment suits him better than it has any right to. Straight talk: for a champion who doesn’t get skins often, Riot put in the work here. Worth every RP for mains, easy lock-in.
