Battlecast Skins
All 14 skins in the Battlecast skinline. Browse splash art, chromas, and detailed reviews for every Battlecast skin in League of Legends.
Battlecast is one of those skinlines that flew under the radar for years and then people suddenly realized it was actually kind of sick. The whole concept is Viktor's machine uprising - champions ripped apart and rebuilt as weapons. Metal plating, red energy cores, industrial VFX. Not gonna lie, when I first saw Battlecast Prime Cho'Gath back in season 2, it rewired how I thought about Legendary skins entirely. The line runs from 2011 to 2020, 14 skins deep across both the Battlecast and Resistance sub-factions, and theres a mechanical brutality to the whole thing that still holds up in 2026.

What Makes the Battlecast Line Stand Out
The visual DNA is pretty consistent across all 14 skins. Red and gunmetal grey. Exposed wiring. Hydraulic joints. Energy cores that pulse during abilities. Every champion in the Battlecast roster looks like they walked out of a Viktor fever dream, which makes sense because Creator Viktor is literally the in-universe architect of the whole thing. The color palette stays tight: deep reds, charcoal blacks, occasional orange heat signatures on ability particles. Compare that to something like PROJECT where every skin gets its own neon accent color and you can see why Battlecast reads as more cohesive on the Rift.
Splash art across the line tells a story. Not sure if it's just me but the Battlecast splashes feel more like concept art for a movie than typical League skin splashes. Cho'Gath towering over a ruined cityscape. Skarner drilling through concrete. There's a scale to them that most skinlines dont attempt. The Resistance sub-faction flips the script: Caitlyn, Singed, Jayce, Yorick, and Illaoi fighting back against Viktor's machines. Two sides of the same war.
VFX-wise the Battlecast skins lean into industrial sound design. Metallic clanks on autos, hydraulic hisses on movement, that low hum on recall animations. The Legendary skins obviously go hardest here but even the Epic tier stuff like Battlecast Urgot has satisfying mechanical feedback on every ability. Played a ton of Urgot in Diamond last season and the shotgun knees on that skin sound like actual artillery. Clean.
One thing that separates Battlecast from similar tech lines like Mecha or PROJECT: the champions chosen actually look better as machines. Cho'Gath as a kaiju-mech works. Skarner as a drill tank works. Kog'Maw as a walking cannon works. The line picks monsters and bruisers that translate naturally into war machines instead of forcing the aesthetic onto champions who dont fit. (Random aside: I always thought Battlecast Rek'Sai was a no-brainer but Riot never pulled the trigger on that one.)
Best Battlecast Skins Worth Locking In
Battlecast Prime Cho'Gath is the crown jewel. Full stop. Released June 2012, this was one of the first Legendaries that actually felt Legendary. New model, new VO, new animations, completely different silhouette from base Cho. The feast stacks make him grow into this absolute mechanical monstrosity and in teamfights around Baron pit at like 40 minutes, a fully stacked Battlecast Cho'Gath is legitimately intimidating. I remember one ranked game around 3 AM, my Cho had 10 feast stacks and the enemy team just walked away from dragon. The skin did half the work psychologically. For 1820 RP its aged better than most Legendaries from that era.
Battlecast Alpha Skarner is the other Legendary and honestly it might be the more underrated of the two. Skarner mains are rare but the ones who exist swear by this skin. The drill fantasy is executed perfectly. His Q sends out seismic pulses, his E fires this red energy beam, and the R? Dragging someone with the Battlecast Alpha impale animation is chef's kiss. Could be wrong here but I think Skarner got reworked since this skin dropped and the VFX still translated well. That says something about the base design quality.
Battlecast Urgot sits at Epic tier and honestly punches above its weight. 1350 RP. The shotgun knees, the grinding ult animation, the mechanical spider-leg walk cycle. Been running this in my ranked games since maybe season 10 and it still feels premium. The recall where he assembles himself from parts is a nice touch.
Creator Viktor deserves a mention even though its technically the "Creator" prefix instead of "Battlecast." He's the mastermind. The skin leans into the mad scientist angle - lab coat, augmented arm, the whole nine. 1350 RP and it captures Viktor's lore identity better than his base skin does. Kinda feels like this should have been his default look from day one.
Resistance Singed rounds out my top five. The gas trails in Battlecast red, the shield bash animations, the whole rebel soldier vibe. Spammed this in Diamond during the Singed proxy meta around season 8 I think. Maybe 9. The point is Singed running behind enemy towers with that skin just hits different when you're tilting the entire enemy jungle.
The Battlecast Champion Roster
14 champions across both factions. The Battlecast side has the monsters and machines: Cho'Gath, Skarner, Urgot, Kog'Maw, Vel'Koz, Nasus, Xerath, Zac, and Viktor as the creator. The Resistance side has the human fighters pushing back: Caitlyn, Singed, Jayce, Yorick, Illaoi. Two armies, one skinline.
Best thematic fits? Cho'Gath and Skarner feel like they were designed for this line. Cho as a kaiju mech and Skarner as a drill tank are perfect translations. Vel'Koz as a floating laser turret makes complete sense too. Might be overthinking it but Battlecast Kog'Maw reads as a biological weapon platform and thats exactly what Kog is in base lore anyway. Natural conversion.
Some feel more forced. Battlecast Xerath is fine but Xerath is already an energy being so slapping metal plates on him doesn't change much visually. Zac as a Battlecast skin is weird because his whole identity is being squishy and amorphous - putting him in rigid armor fights his silhouette. On the Resistance side, Yorick and Illaoi feel like late additions to fill roster spots. (Sidebar: Illaoi mains probably disagree with me and thats fair, Resistance Illaoi has solid tentacle VFX.)
Who should Riot add next? Warwick as a Battlecast hunting unit. Urgot already proved the monster-machine angle works at Epic tier. Give us Battlecast Warwick with hydraulic claws and a tracking laser for his W blood trail. Been saying this since season 11. Also Battlecast Rek'Sai as a tunneling siege engine. The underground fantasy with mechanical drilling sounds? Come on Riot.
Tier and Price Breakdown
The line splits 10 Epic, 2 Legendary, 2 Standard. Price range runs 520 RP on the low end to 1820 RP for the Legendaries. Most of what you'll actually want sits at 1350 RP Epic tier. Real talk though, the two Legendaries carry this line's reputation. Without Battlecast Prime Cho'Gath this skinline probably gets forgotten alongside stuff like Praetorian or Eternum.
The two Standard tier skins are the oldest in the line, dating back to 2011-2012 when Standard skins were just recolors with minor model changes. They show their age. If you're buying into Battlecast in 2026, the Epic tier is where the value lives. Battlecast Urgot, Creator Viktor, Resistance Singed, Battlecast Nasus - all 1350 RP, all solid quality for the price.
The Epics don't have new voice lines, base VO across the board for those. Legendaries get full VO packages. Fair warning: Cho'Gath's Battlecast voice lines are from 2012 so they're not as extensive as modern Legendaries. Still good. Just dont expect Spirit Blossom Ahri levels of dialogue. The 1820 RP tag on both Legendaries feels earned even by today's standards, which is saying something for skins that are over a decade old. Had this conversation with my duo partner last Tuesday and we agreed Battlecast Prime still clears most modern 1350s.
Battlecast Skins FAQ
How many Battlecast skins are there?
14 skins total across both the Battlecast and Resistance sub-factions. The Battlecast side covers the machine converts like Cho'Gath and Skarner, while Resistance has the human fighters like Caitlyn and Jayce. The line ran from 2011 through 2020 and Riot hasnt added new ones since. Feels like a finished chapter honestly.
What is the best Battlecast skin?
Battlecast Prime Cho'Gath. Not even close. The Legendary tier with full VO, unique animations, and that growing mech-kaiju model on feast stacks. Been the gold standard for the line since 2012. Battlecast Alpha Skarner is the runner up but Cho takes it for the visual impact alone. Lock in Cho'Gath with this skin and the enemy team notices.
Which champions have Battlecast skins?
Cho'Gath, Skarner, Urgot, Kog'Maw, Vel'Koz, Nasus, Xerath, Zac, and Viktor on the machine side. Caitlyn, Singed, Jayce, Yorick, and Illaoi on the Resistance side. 14 champions total. Heavy on monsters and bruisers which makes sense for the war machine theme. Not sure if Riot plans to expand the roster but it covers solid ground already.
Does Battlecast have Legendary skins?
Two Legendaries. Battlecast Prime Cho'Gath and Battlecast Alpha Skarner, both at 1820 RP. Cho'Gath's is the more iconic one with the growing mech model. Skarner's drill tank fantasy is underrated though. Both have full new VO and unique animations. They're from 2012 and 2014 respectively so they predate modern Legendary standards but still hold up well in ranked.
When did the Battlecast skinline release?
First Battlecast skin dropped in 2011. The line kept getting additions through 2020 with Resistance Illaoi and Resistance Singed being some of the later entries. Peak era was probably 2014-2016 when Riot was pushing the Creator Viktor lore connection hardest. Nine year run for a skinline is pretty impressive when you think about it.
Are Battlecast skins worth buying?
If you main any of the champions in the roster, yeah. The Legendaries are obvious buys for Cho'Gath and Skarner mains. Epic tier stuff like Battlecast Urgot and Creator Viktor punches above its 1350 RP price point. The Standard tier skins show their age so maybe skip those unless youre a collector. Value is solid across the Epic range especially.
Do Battlecast skins have chromas?
Some of the newer Battlecast and Resistance skins got chromas. The older ones from 2011-2014 predate the chroma system entirely so those are locked to their base color scheme. Red and gunmetal grey is the signature look anyway so chromas feel less necessary here than in lines where the base palette is less distinctive. Check each individual skin page for chroma details.
Will Riot make more Battlecast skins?
Could be wrong here but it feels unlikely. The last addition was in 2020 and Riot has been focused on newer lines like Empyrean and Faerie Court. The Viktor rework in 2022 didn't come with a new Battlecast skin which seemed like a missed opportunity. Maybe just my experience but I think this line is done unless theres a major lore event tied to Viktor's machine herald storyline.
