Played maybe 200 games with this skin back in seasons 2 and 3. Not gonna lie, there’s something about a tiny yordle in an elf outfit dropping shrooms across the Rift that just hits different during December. Happy Elf Teemo is one of those skins that feels like a time capsule. You lock it in and suddenly its 2010 again, everyone building Madred’s Bloodrazor and nobody knows what wave management means.
What you actually get for 750 RP
This is a Standard tier skin from 2009, so keep expectations in check. Happy Elf Teemo swaps the base scout outfit for a green and red elf costume with a pointy hat. The blowgun gets a candy cane reskin. Thats about it for the model changes.
No new VFX on Q, W, E, or R. Voice stays default. No recall animation because this predates custom recalls entirely. The shrooms look the same, the blind dart looks the same, the poison ticks look the same. You’re buying this for the character model and the splash, full stop.
Could be wrong here but I think the auto attack animation feels slightly different with the candy cane blowgun. Probably placebo. Been maining Teemo with this skin on and off for years and I still cant tell if the projectile reads differently or if my brain just wants it to. In lane specifically, the smaller model with the elf hat can be weirdly hard to click on during trades. Might be overthinking it but a couple of my Diamond games had enemy ADCs whiffing clicks on me in bot lane when I took Teemo support with this skin. Coincidence, sure. Fun coincidence though.
Snowdown Showdown and the 2009 release
Happy Elf Teemo dropped December 17, 2009. Season 1 hadnt even started yet. Part of the Snowdown Showdown skinline, which was Riot’s first real holiday event. Augusto Quirino and West Studio handled the splash art, and for a 2009 piece it holds up okay. Not amazing by modern standards but the composition works.
The Snowdown Showdown line gave us a bunch of holiday skins that year. Happy Elf Teemo sits alongside stuff like Earnest Elf Tristana and the original Santa Gragas. Legacy vault skin, so you cant just grab it from the shop whenever. Hextech only these days unless Riot opens the vault during Snowdown events, which they do sometimes around December. Seen maybe 3 of these in my games all season, and two of them were mine.
(Random aside: the splash art has been my Discord avatar every December since like 2018. Nobody ever recognizes it.)
Should you buy Happy Elf Teemo?
Real verdict: 750 RP feels fair for what you get, assuming you can even get it. The Legacy availability makes this more of a collector piece than a daily driver. If you’re a Teemo one-trick who grinds ranked through preseason, having this in rotation for December games is a nice flex. Shows you’ve been around.
But real talk though, if you want actual gameplay changes on Teemo, Omega Squad or Little Devil are better picks. Those have new VFX on every ability, custom recalls, the whole package. Happy Elf Teemo is pure nostalgia. Been running this in my ranked games last Tuesday around 2 AM and got three honor votes just for the skin pick. People respect the vintage.
Skip this if you started playing after season 6 and have no emotional connection to early League. For the rest of us who remember when Teemo was the most hated champion on the Rift before Yasuo existed, this skin is a piece of history. 750 RP well spent for mains, if the vault ever opens again.
