Reindeer Kog'Maw - Splash, Price & Legacy Vault

First time I saw this skin load in was maybe season 3, some ARAM around Christmas. Tiny void puppy with antlers and a red nose. Ridiculous. Been a soft spot for Kog’Maw mains who dont take themselves too seriously ever since. Not gonna lie, I queued up three ARAMs last December just hoping to see one on either team.

What Reindeer Kog’Maw actually changes

This is a 975 RP Standard skin so temper expectations. Kog’Maw gets a full reindeer outfit: antlers, red glowing nose, and a holiday sweater texture over his body. The color palette shifts from purple void creature to brown and red festive tones. Clean change.

The VFX got some love here. His Q spit and W range indicator pick up a slight wintery feel. R artillery shots land with what I think are small snow particle effects, which honestly reads better than you’d expect for this price point. Could be wrong here but the auto attacks during W feel slightly different too, like there’s a frosty trail. Subtle stuff.

Voice lines stay base, same Patrick Seitz performance underneath. No new recall animation either. Standard voice, no new lines. For a skin from 2010 thats about what you’d get. The model work does the heavy lifting and it does it well enough. Playing this skin, the antlers bouncing during Kog’Maw’s idle animation is genuinely funny. Ran this in a Diamond game last Tuesday and my support pinged the laugh emote four times in lane.

Snowdown Showdown and the Legacy vault

Reindeer Kog’Maw dropped December 14, 2010. Season 1 era. Part of the Snowdown Showdown line, which Riot rolls out every winter holiday. The Snowdown skins range from lazy recolors to genuinely creative takes, and Kog’Maw lands somewhere in the middle.

Legacy vault skin. You cant just walk into the shop and grab it. Sits in the vault and comes out during Snowdown events, maybe shows up in Your Shop if you’re lucky. Hextech only these days outside of those windows. (Random aside: I got mine from a reroll back in season 9 I think or 10 dont remember, felt like winning the lottery for a skin I didnt know I wanted.)

No chromas available for this one. Zero. Given the age of the skin thats expected. Riot wasnt doing chromas back in 2010.

Should you chase Reindeer Kog’Maw?

Real verdict: if you main Kog’Maw and you like novelty holiday skins, this is a must-have for the collection. 975 RP is fair for what you get. The reindeer theme commits fully and the VFX additions push it above what most Standard skins deliver.

The problem is availability. Being Legacy means you’re at Riot’s mercy for when it shows up. Been spamming Kog’Maw in Diamond this past season and I rotate between this and Battlecast depending on mood. Reindeer hits different in December specifically, feels weird running it in July. Kinda feels like wearing a Christmas sweater to a pool party.

Compared to other Kog’Maw skins at this price range, it holds up. Monarch and Sonoran exist at lower price points but lack the personality. Bee’Maw and Pug’Maw are the meme competitors at higher tiers. Reindeer Kog’Maw carved out its own niche: the seasonal comfort pick for ADC mains who want something light in their ranked games. Skip it if you never play Kog’Maw, but for one-tricks this is a Snowdown Showdown staple worth hunting down.
