Bee'Maw - Splash, Price & Chromas

First game I played with Bee’Maw I could not stop laughing. Not sure if it’s just me but something about Kog’Maw buzzing around bot lane dressed as a bee just hits different. The little wings, the honey-dripping particles, the whole vibe. Played maybe 30 games with it that first week. Couldnt put it down.

What Bee’Maw actually brings to the Rift

So this is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP, and Riot gave it the full treatment for that price point. New model turns Kog’Maw into a chunky bumblebee with black and yellow striping, transparent wings on his back, and a stinger tail replacing the usual void mouth thing. The model alone is worth talking about because it completely changes his silhouette in lane.

VFX got reworked across the board. Q shoots out a honey glob instead of the usual void ooze. W range indicator has this golden honeycomb pattern that spreads out when you activate it. Been running this in Diamond and the W indicator actually reads cleaner than base, which matters when you’re trying to cs at max range during laning phase. E drops a trail of honey on the ground. Thick golden puddle that slows. Looks way better than the green goop from default.

R is where it really shines though. Living Artillery rains down little honey bombs. Each ult shot leaves a splat of golden honey on impact. When you’re poking in a teamfight and spamming R, the whole area turns into a sticky mess of gold particles. Kinda feels like Kog’Maw finally has VFX that match how annoying his poke actually is late-game.

New recall animation too. He does this little bee dance, waggling back and forth. Voice lines stay base, no new VO. Standard for an Epic skin. (Random aside: I showed the recall to my duo partner at like 1 AM on a Tuesday and he changed his summoner icon to a bee immediately.)

The Bees! skinline and release context

Bee’Maw dropped March 4, 2021. Part of the Bees! skinline, which is one of Riot’s more creative comedy lines. Esben Lash Rasmussen nailed the splash art. The composition puts Kog’Maw front and center with honeycombs framing the background, and his expression is pure chaotic joy.

The Bees! line includes Beezahar, Yuubee, Beezcrank, and a few others. Honestly the whole set is solid but Bee’Maw might be the best executed of the bunch. Kog’Maw’s weird body shape translates perfectly into a round bumbling bee. The Bees! thematic just fits him naturally where some of the other champions feel a bit forced into it.

8 chromas total for this one. Obsidian is my go-to, turns the whole bee dark with these deep charcoal tones that look way more intimidating than a bee skin has any right to. Rainbow chroma is the flashy pick if you want maximum visibility in lane. Rose Quartz gives it a pink-pastel look that honestly reads cleaner than base against the Rift’s green terrain. I cycle between those three depending on my mood before lock-in.

How Bee’Maw feels in actual games

Real talk though. The skin feels smooth to play. Auto attack animations with the bee model have a slightly different rhythm to them visually, but the actual timing is identical. Took this into ranked for about two weeks straight in season 11 and the W autos felt crisp. Some skins mess with your perception of attack speed on ADCs. This one doesnt.

Spammed this in Diamond duo queue and got compliments from random supports multiple times. People notice the Bees! skins. Had a Thresh player last season type “nice skin” in all chat before the game even started. That never happens with base Kog’Maw.

Where Bee’Maw struggles is if you want Kog’Maw to feel intimidating. This is a comedy skin. You’re a bee. Your passive death explosion turns you into a honey bomb. If you’re the type who wants your scaling hypercarry ADC to look threatening in the backline during late-game teamfights, maybe look at Battlecast or Lion Dance instead. But if you want to tilt the enemy jungler when they gank you and you proc passive on their Kayn? Bee’Maw all day.

Should you buy Bee’Maw?

Verdict time. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. Full VFX overhaul, solid model, great recall, strong chroma selection. Could be wrong here but I think this is a top three Kog’Maw skin. It competes with Lion Dance for best overall package and beats most of his catalog easily.

Worth 1350 if you main Kog’Maw. Even if you dont play him much, the Bees! skinline is one of those sets where owning at least one feels right. Bee’Maw is the strongest entry in the line. Skip it only if you genuinely hate fun skins and want everything dark and edgy. For everyone else, especially Kog’Maw mains and one-tricks grinding solo queue, this is the pick.
