Beekeeper Singed

First time I saw Beekeeper Singed in a loading screen I thought someone was trolling. A beekeeper outfit on the poison trail guy. Sounds like a joke skin and honestly thats kind of the point. But after locking it in for maybe 40 or 50 ranked games across two seasons, I can say it holds up way better than a meme skin has any right to. The whole concept just works with Singed’s kit in a way that feels intentional, not forced.

What actually changes with Beekeeper Singed

The big thing here is the poison trail. Instead of that toxic green cloud you get a swarm of bees buzzing behind you. Played this skin in Diamond last season and I can tell you the trail reads differently in teamfights. Not sure if it’s just me but the bee particles feel slightly harder to track against certain Rift terrain compared to base. Could be placebo. Could be a micro-advantage. Either way the VFX overhaul on Q is the star of the show.

His W, the Mega Adhesive, gets a honey puddle effect. Sticky honey instead of sticky goo. Makes sense thematically. The fling animation stays mostly the same but there’s a satisfying little buzz effect when you yeet someone into your trail. Been running this skin since season 8 I think and the fling never gets old with those sound cues.

The recall animation is where Riot really cooked. Singed pulls out a honeycomb frame and inspects it, full beekeeper mode. Little bees fly around him. Its genuinely one of the better recall animations on an Epic tier skin from that era. No new voice lines though, voice stays default. For 1350 RP you get the VFX package and recall but the base VO is what it is.

Real talk though the model itself is clean. Yellow beekeeper suit, the hat with the mesh veil, he’s carrying what looks like a smoker canister on his back instead of the usual poison barrel. The silhouette reads as Singed immediately but the color palette is completely different. Bright yellows and warm browns versus the usual dark greens.

The Bees! skinline and release context

Beekeeper Singed dropped October 11, 2017. Mid-season 7. Part of the Bees! skinline which Riot has slowly expanded over the years with skins like Beemo and Bee’Maw. The Bees! line is one of those joke-adjacent themes that actually has a dedicated fanbase. Singed was one of the earlier entries and I think he’s still one of the best in the set.

Xu ‘Crow God’ Cheng nailed the splash. The composition has Singed walking through a field of flowers with bees everywhere, that golden hour lighting hitting the veil on his hat. Genuinely a good splash for a comedic skin. No chromas available for this one which is a bit of a miss honestly. Would have loved a darker honey variant or something with red accents.

Shop has it permanently at 1350 RP. Standard Epic pricing. For context that’s the same price point as most of Singed’s newer skins but Beekeeper came out at a time when 1350 skins were starting to get more generous with their VFX budgets. Feels like it benefited from that transition period.

How it plays in ranked and who it’s for

Might be overthinking it but this skin has a psychological component. Last Tuesday in a Diamond game I proxy farmed three waves behind their tier 2 turret and the enemy jungler just walked past me. Could be coping but I genuinely think the bright yellow beekeeper outfit makes you look less threatening than default Singed. People underestimate the bee man. Then you flip their ADC into the honey puddle and suddenly it’s a 4v5.

(Random aside: my duo partner refuses to play with me when I use this skin because he says the buzzing sound on the trail tilts him. From my own team. That’s power.)

Singed mains specifically will appreciate how the bee trail interacts with proxy farming and late-game teamfight chaos. When you’re running through five people with poison on, the screen just fills with bees. Massive visual presence. The peel potential doesn’t change mechanically but the VFX make your trail more noticeable to your own team which is lowkey useful for disengaging through your own poison path.

Should you buy Beekeeper Singed?

Straight talk: if you play Singed at all, this is a must-own. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX on Q alone justify the price and the recall animation is top three in Singed’s skin catalog. Augmented Singed and Astronaut Singed are the main competitors. Augmented is cheaper and has that clean cybernetic look. Astronaut is newer with slightly more polished effects. But Beekeeper has personality that neither of them match.

Been maining Singed with this skin on and off for five seasons now. Keep coming back to it over the newer options. The Bees! skinline energy is just unmatched. Skip it if you want something edgy or serious, Black Scourge Singed exists for that. But for Singed one-tricks who appreciate the absurdity of running at five people as a beekeeper while they panic flash away from your honey trail? S-tier Singed cosmetic. No question.
