Augmented Singed

Been running Augmented Singed on and off since maybe season 4 or 5, dont remember exactly when I picked it up. First time I saw the splash I thought Riot was going for some cyborg mad scientist vibe and honestly it landed. The whole concept is Singed after he experimented on himself, which feels very on-brand for the champion. Not gonna lie, it’s one of those skins that just fits the character so naturally you forget it’s not the default.

What Augmented Singed actually changes

So this is a Standard tier skin at 975 RP, which means you’re getting a model swap and new textures but no fancy particles or recall animation. Voice lines stay base. The main draw here is the redesigned model: Singed gets this half-mechanical look with metal plating across his body, tubes running along his arms, and a more industrial shield strapped to his back. The color palette shifts to dark greys and greens with some glowing accents that read well in lane.

Played maybe 30 games with this last month in Diamond and the proxy farming experience feels clean. Kinda feels like the model is slightly easier to track during teamfights compared to base Singed, which is weird because you’d think a darker skin would blend more. The poison trail looks the same as default, no changes there. Same with his Q, W, E, R – all base VFX. Fling animation unchanged. Could be wrong here but the running animation looks slightly different with the bulkier model, though that might just be the visual weight of the armor plating tricking my brain.

(Random aside: my duo partner refuses to play with me when I lock in Singed regardless of skin, says I “int every game” which is rich coming from a hardstuck Platinum Kayn player.)

Silver Age and where this skin sits

Augmented Singed dropped July 9, 2012. Part of the Silver Age skinline, which is one of those older Riot thematic groups that doesn’t get talked about much anymore. The Silver Age line has that retro comic book feel to it. Think early Marvel stuff but League-ified.

No chromas available for this one. Zero. Shop has it permanently so you can grab it whenever. For 975 RP in 2012 this was actually a solid offering. These days 975 skins are kind of in a weird spot – too expensive for just a model swap when you compare to what 1350 gets you, but grandfathered pricing means Riot wont change it.

No splash artist credited in the data which is a shame. The splash itself holds up okay for its age. Singed standing there looking half-machine with chemicals bubbling around him. Not their best work but it was season 2, different standards. Real talk though, I’ve seen way worse splashes from that era.

Should you buy Augmented Singed?

Straight talk: if you main Singed and you’re looking for a skin that feels thematically perfect, Augmented is a strong pick. 975 RP feels fair for what you get. The model work is clean, the concept makes total sense for the champion, and it’s aged better than most skins from 2012.

That said, Singed has some stacked competition now. Beekeeper Singed exists. Astronaut Singed exists. Both offer way more in terms of VFX and recall animations. Had this in rotation for a while last season around October and kept coming back to it between newer options because the aesthetic just works when you’re proxy farming top lane at level 3 while their jungler is panicking. Best “classic” Singed skin if you dont care about flashy particles. Skip it if you need new VFX to justify a purchase, but for Singed one-tricks who appreciate the lore angle, this is the one.
