Been running Singed on and off since season 3, and Riot Squad Singed is one of those skins that catches you off guard when you actually see it in game. First time I ran into one was maybe season 5 or 6 in a normal draft around 1 AM. Thought it was a custom skin at first. The riot gear aesthetic on a champion who literally runs at people trailing poison is just chef’s kiss levels of thematic irony.
What Riot Squad Singed actually brings
So this is a Standard tier skin at 975 RP, which for 2010 standards was pretty loaded. The model swap puts Singed in full riot police gear, helmet and shield included. Kinda feels like Riot had a sense of humor naming their own police-themed skinline after themselves. The shield he carries replaces his usual setup and it reads well even from the top-down camera angle, which older skins sometimes struggle with.
VFX got some love here. The poison trail has a different tint that stands out on Summoner’s Rift better than base Singed. Not a massive overhaul but noticeable when you’re proxying between towers and watching the enemy jungler panic. Voice lines stay base, no new VO. No recall animation either, this is 2010 we’re talking about. Recalls werent even a thing yet when this dropped.
Real talk though, the auto attack animation with the shield feels heavier somehow. Could be placebo but after maybe 40 games with this skin I swear the bonk feels more satisfying. The Q trail is where most of your visual time goes on Singed anyway, and the adjusted VFX there carry the skin hard. Simple change – huge impact.
The Riot skinline and some history
Riot Squad Singed released June 25, 2010. Early League days. The Riot skinline is one of those exclusive-feeling collections that Riot hands out or vaults periodically. Riot Blitzcrank, Riot Graves, Riot K-9 Nasus, they all share that law enforcement theme but Singed fits it the most naturally because of his kit. A champion whose whole identity is running into people and causing chaos wearing anti-riot gear. The irony writes itself.
No splash artist credited in the data, which tracks for skins from that era. Riot’s art pipeline in 2010 was a different beast entirely. (Random aside: the splash itself has this gritty vibe that I think holds up better than some 2012 splashes honestly.)
Legacy vault skin. Hextech only these days. You cant just walk into the shop and grab it, which adds to that rare factor when you lock in Singed and your team sees the loading screen. Seen maybe two of these in my Diamond games all of last season. Zero chromas available, and I doubt they’ll add any given the vault status.
Should you want this one?
Might be overthinking it but I think Riot Squad Singed sits in a weird spot. 975 RP is fair for what you get, the model is clean, VFX work, thematic is strong. But you cant buy it outright. If it drops from a chest or you get a skin shard, absolutely upgrade it. Singed mains know the champion has some solid options now with Beekeeper and Astronaut, but this one carries that OG weight.
Not gonna lie, I keep coming back to this skin whenever I go on a Singed binge in solo queue. There’s something about proxy farming top lane in riot gear that just hits different. The skin doesnt need chromas or a fancy recall to earn its spot. It earns it through pure identity. If you main Singed and you roll this shard, don’t hesitate. S-tier Singed cosmetic for collectors, easy.
