First time I saw Ravager Nocturne in a loading screen I thought someone was running a custom skin. The red and black color scheme hits so different from base Nocturne that it barely registers as the same champion. Locked this in during a late night ranked session, maybe around 1 AM, and the splash alone had my duo asking what skin that was.
What Ravager Nocturne actually changes
Real talk though, this is a 520 RP skin from 2011. You’re not getting new particles, no fresh voice lines, no recall animation. Voice stays default. Base VO, no changes. What you do get is a full model swap that turns Nocturne from his usual shadowy blue-purple into this aggressive crimson-red demon look. The blades on his arms get a redesign that makes them look more jagged, more predatory.
The texture work holds up better than you’d expect for something this old. Played maybe 40 games with it across two weeks and the red tones read cleanly on Summoner’s Rift. When you’re diving the backline with Paranoia, the red model cutting through the darkness actually looks menacing. Not sure if it’s just me but the auto attack animations feel smoother visually with the darker blade contrast against the map.
No new VFX on Q, W, E, or R. Your Duskbringer trail stays the same, Shroud of Darkness looks identical, Unspeakable Horror tether is unchanged. For a skin at this price point thats expected. Simple change – huge impact on the overall feel though. The silhouette reads angrier, if that makes sense.
Silver Age origins and the 2011 release
Ravager Nocturne dropped July 13, 2011. Season 1 era. Zhuore Zhi Hen did the splash, and for 2011 standards they captured the vibe perfectly. The Silver Age skinline is one of those early Riot thematic groupings that doesn’t get talked about much anymore.
520 RP puts this in budget territory. Shop has it, permanent availability, no vault rotation nonsense. You know what surprised me? The splash art still holds up against modern 520 skins. The composition with the red energy swirling around Nocturne’s form gives it more personality than half the 750 RP skins released years later. (Random aside: I used this splash as my Discord avatar for like three months in season 10 I think or 11 dont remember.)
Zero chromas available. At 520 RP that’s standard, Riot wasnt handing out chroma packs for budget skins back then and they havent retroactively added any.
Should you pick up Ravager Nocturne
Okay, the real question. Been running this in Diamond on and off since I picked it up, and honestly for 520 RP it punches above its weight. If you’re a Nocturne main who jungles regularly, the red color scheme gives you a distinct look without spending Legendary money. Might be overthinking it but I feel like the darker model blends into the jungle camps better visually, which is a weird flex for a skin but there it is.
Best budget Nocturne skin if you dont want to commit to Eternum or Hextech pricing. The competition at higher price points is stiff, Eternum Nocturne exists at 1820 RP with full VO and VFX, and Old God Nocturne goes hard on the Lovecraftian theme. But if you’re climbing through ranked and want something clean without dropping serious RP, Ravager earns it.
Skip it if you already own Eternum or Cursed Revenant. Worth 520 RP if you main Nocturne and want variety in your skin rotation. That ranked game last Tuesday where my Kayn inted early, I was still feeling good about the Nocturne lock-in purely because of how clean this skin looked diving their ADC in teamfights. Fair price for the package.
