First time I saw Eternum Nocturne load into my game I genuinely thought it was a different champion. Not even joking. The silhouette alone threw me off for a solid two seconds in a Diamond ranked match last winter around midnight, and that delay almost cost me a trade in the top side river. The skin transforms Nocturne from a shadowy nightmare creature into something that looks ripped straight out of a mech-horror anime. Completely different energy.

How Eternum Nocturne changes the game feel

This is a Legendary skin and it earns every bit of that 1820 RP price tag. New model, new VFX on every ability, new voice lines, new recall. The full package. Nocturne’s base kit already has some of the most recognizable abilities in the game, and Eternum rebuilds all of them from scratch with a sci-fi mechanical theme.

Q – Duskbringer leaves this trail of red energy particles instead of the usual dark path. Looks cleaner in teamfights, honestly easier to track where you’ve thrown it. The trail itself has this pulsing glow that reads well against basically any terrain on the Rift. W – Shroud of Darkness gets a hexagonal shield effect that feels more “energy barrier” than “dark magic.” Clean visual, easy to see when its active. Might be overthinking it but I think the shield activation sound on W is actually louder than base, which helps with timing.

E – Unspeakable Horror tethers the target with these red electric cables instead of shadowy tendrils. The fear proc looks nastier. More mechanical. And then R. Paranoia. The ult on this skin is where Eternum Nocturne really separates itself. The screen darkening effect stays similar but the dash animation has Nocturne folding into this blade-like projectile form. Been running this in Diamond for multiple seasons and the R animation still hits different every time I dive the backline.

The recall animation has Nocturne assembling himself from scattered mechanical parts. Short and clean. No filler. Jason Wishnov voices the skin and the new VO gives Nocturne this deep synthetic filter that sounds like a machine trying to communicate dread. Lines about consumption and darkness but through a robotic lens. Some of the voice lines are genuinely unsettling if you’re wearing headphones late at night. (Random aside: I once had my roommate walk in during a Nocturne ult with this skin’s audio blasting and he thought my PC was dying.)

The auto attack animations feel heavier too. Theres a weight to each swing that base Nocturne doesnt have. Jungle clear with this skin just feels more satisfying, the red particle effects on each hit give solid visual feedback when you’re farming camps pre-6.

The Eternum line and where this skin sits

Eternum Nocturne dropped December 5, 2012. Season 2 was wrapping up. The Eternum skinline was Riot’s early attempt at a full mechanical horror theme before they had stuff like Program or PROJECT to fill that niche. Nocturne was one of the first champions to get the Eternum treatment and I think he fits it the best out of the whole set.

Michal Ivan and Puppetworks Animation Studio handled the splash. They captured this floating mechanical terror perfectly, the red energy core in the center of the model reads as both a power source and a weak point. Smart design choice. The splash composition puts Nocturne mid-descent like he’s about to engage on whoever’s looking at the loading screen.

No chromas on this one. Legendary skins from 2012 didn’t get the chroma treatment and Riot hasn’t gone back to add any. Not gonna lie, a dark blue or purple variant would go hard, but what exists is solid enough. The red and black color scheme is iconic for the Eternum line. Shop has it permanently, 1820 RP, no vault rotation or loot exclusive nonsense.

For context on the Eternum skinline itself, it later expanded to Rek’Sai and Cassiopeia. Nocturne’s version remains the standout. Could be wrong here but I think it’s because Nocturne’s kit translates better to the mechanical horror fantasy than the others. A shadow assassin becoming a machine assassin just works. The peel and disengage you need against a fed Nocturne feels even more urgent when the skin looks this threatening.

Should you buy Eternum Nocturne?

Real verdict: if you play Nocturne jungle or mid with any regularity, this skin is worth the 1820 RP. Full stop. The new VO alone carries it. I’ve seen maybe five other Eternum Nocturnes in my games all season, which is surprising given how clean it is. Most Nocturne players I run into are either on Cursed Revenant or the base skin.

The age shows slightly in the model compared to 2024 Legendaries. Polygon count is lower, textures aren’t as sharp up close. But in actual gameplay, during ganking and teamfights, none of that matters. The VFX do all the heavy lifting and they still hold up. Played maybe 150 games with this skin across season 12 and 13 specifically and I keep coming back to it over the newer options.

One thing worth mentioning: the ult audio cue on Eternum is slightly different from base Nocturne’s Paranoia sound. Some players in my comp games have said the Eternum version is harder to react to because it sounds less like the classic “DARKNESS” and more like a system error. Take this with a grain of salt but I think thats a genuine minor advantage in solo queue. Best Nocturne skin if you can only own one. 1820 RP well spent for mains, and even if you only pull Nocturne out occasionally in the jungle, this skin makes every game with him feel like an event.
