First time I saw Void Nocturne load in was back in like season 2, maybe early season 3. Could be wrong here but I remember thinking it looked like Nocturne got swallowed by the Void and came back meaner. Purple-heavy color shift across the whole model, and for a 520 RP skin from 2011 it still reads surprisingly clean on the Rift.

What the Void treatment actually does

Nocturne’s base form already has that living shadow nightmare vibe, so wrapping him in Void energy feels natural. The model swap leans hard into purples and deep violets instead of the base blue-black. His blades get this corrupted Void texture that catches light differently during auto attacks. Played maybe 40 games with this skin last season and the Q trail – Duskbringer – has a subtle VFX tweak that makes the shadow path look more organic. More like Void corruption spreading across the ground than a simple darkness trail.

Not gonna lie, the W spell shield pop doesnt look drastically different at first glance. You gotta pay attention. But the passive trail on his basic attacks and the overall color palette shift make him feel like a different creature. No new voice lines here, voice stays default. No updated recall animation either, which is expected at this price point.

The ult is where it matters most for Nocturne mains though. Paranoia already darkens the whole screen for the enemy team, and something about the Void color scheme makes the dash-in feel more threatening. Might be overthinking it but the purple particles on impact read better than base in chaotic teamfights. Especially when you’re diving the backline at like 1 AM and everything is blurring together.

Curse of the Void and release context

Void Nocturne dropped March 15, 2011. Early League days. Part of the Curse of the Void skinline, which ties him thematically to other Void-touched champions. The line wasnt huge but it gave a few champs that corrupted purple aesthetic before Riot started doing full thematic events.

520 RP price tag. Standard tier. For context thats cheaper than most skins Riot puts out now, and this one at least brings VFX changes to the table. No chromas available for this skin. Legacy vault skin so you cant just walk into the shop and grab it any day. Need to wait for vault rotations or get lucky with Hextech crafting. Seen maybe 2 of these in my Diamond games all season, which honestly makes it cooler when it does show up.

(Random aside: the splash art on this one is genuinely underrated. The Void tendrils wrapping around Nocturne’s form look sick as a loading screen card.)

Should you hunt this one down?

Real verdict: Void Nocturne is a solid budget skin trapped behind Legacy availability. If you’re a Nocturne one-trick who jungles regularly, the Void color swap gives you something different without losing the champion’s identity. The VFX touches on Q and the overall model work hold up better than most 520 RP skins from that era.

That said, Eternum Nocturne exists. So does Hextech Nocturne. If you want the best Nocturne skin full stop, those are probably ahead. But for a Standard tier skin at 520 RP? Hard to complain. I think it earns its spot in the collection for anyone who mains Nocturne and wants variety in their skin rotation. Been running this in normals when I dont feel like using Eternum and it hits different. Simple change – huge impact on how the champ feels during jungle clear and ganking. Worth grabbing if it ever pops up in your loot or during a vault sale.
