Void Bringer Illaoi

First time I saw Void Bringer Illaoi load in on the enemy team I genuinely thought it was a different champion for about two seconds. The silhouette shifts just enough with those Void tendrils that your brain does a double take. Been running this skin on and off since it dropped back in 2015 and it still holds up better than most Epic skins from that era. Solid purchase.

What the Void does to Illaoi’s kit

The tentacles are the whole point here and Riot knew it. Instead of Nagakabouros’s stone-green idol aesthetic, everything goes purple-black Void corruption. The passive tentacles that spawn on walls look like they’re tearing through from another dimension. Genuinely unsettling in a good way.

Her Q slam brings down a Void tentacle thats visually thicker and more menacing than base. The ground impact has this purple energy ripple that reads cleaner in teamfights than default. W leap gets the Void treatment too, your vessel slam carries more weight visually. Not sure if it’s just me but the W animation feels snappier with this skin, though I know thats placebo.

E is where it gets interesting. When you rip the spirit out of someone, the tether has this corrupted Void energy look. Purple and dark, more threatening. Played maybe 40 games with this in Diamond last season and I noticed people actually respect the E zone more when you’re running Void Bringer. Could be the visual clarity, could be nothing. The spirit itself looks properly Void-touched.

R is the highlight. Prophet of an Elder God into Void Prophet. The tentacles that slam down during your ult have the full Void aesthetic and in a 5v5 teamfight around dragon pit it looks absolutely chaotic. Last Tuesday I popped R into four people and the screen was just purple tentacles everywhere. Beautiful mess.

New recall animation too. She does this Void ritual thing, channeling dark energy. Clean. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is a shame because Rolonda Watts absolutely crushed the base voice work and I would have loved Void-corrupted versions. But for an Epic tier skin from 2015 you cant really expect that.

The Curse of the Void and when it dropped

Released November 24, 2015. Literally Illaoi’s launch skin, she came out with this one ready to go. Part of the Curse of the Void skinline which honestly doesnt get enough love from Riot. The line has some bangers scattered across it.

Alvin Lee handled the artwork and the splash is genuinely one of my favorites from that year. The composition with the Void tentacles erupting behind her while she stands there looking unbothered. Peak Illaoi energy. (Random aside: I had this as my desktop wallpaper for like three months in season 6.)

No chromas on this one. Zero. Kinda feels like Riot forgot about it, which tracks because Illaoi in general doesn’t get the cosmetic attention she deserves. She’s not exactly a popular pick in solo queue, been seeing maybe one other Illaoi per 50 games in my Diamond lobbies this season. Niche champion problems.

Should you buy Void Bringer Illaoi?

Real verdict: 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX overhaul on tentacles alone carries the skin. New recall is a nice bonus. Missing new voice lines hurts it slightly but that’s standard for Epic skins from this period.

If you main Illaoi this is basically mandatory. She only has a handful of skins total and Void Bringer is arguably the best Illaoi skin for pure visual impact in lane. The Void corruption theme fits her tentacle-heavy kit way too naturally. Might be overthinking it but there’s something about the dark purple VFX that makes your presence in top lane feel more oppressive.

Shop has it, permanent availability, so no rush. But if you’re an Illaoi one-trick climbing through ranked and you want your lane opponent to feel the peel pressure before you even hit 6, this is the one. Spammed this in Diamond for two weeks straight last month and kept coming back to it over Cosmic Invoker. The Void tentacles just hit different when you’re splitting top and the enemy jungler has to decide if ganking you is worth it. Spoiler: it never is.
