First time I saw Eternum Cassiopeia load in, I thought someone modded their client. The whole aesthetic is so far removed from base Cassiopeia that it barely registers as the same champion. Been running this skin since late 2017 and it still turns heads in Diamond lobbies. Not even exaggerating.
What Eternum Cassiopeia actually brings to the table
The model is a full sci-fi rebuild. Cassiopeia loses the classical serpent look and gets this sleek biomechanical body with sharp metallic plating and glowing red energy running through her frame. Honestly not gonna lie, the silhouette reads more like a Battlecast unit than a snake mage. Thats kind of the point though.
VFX got a complete overhaul. Her Q drops this pulsing red circle that feels heavier than base. The poison trail on W has a dark tech aesthetic with particle lines that make zoning feel more aggressive visually. E spam looks crisp – each Twin Fang shot fires with a mechanical snap, red projectiles replacing the green goo. In lane when you’re poking with E after landing Q, the rhythm of those red bolts just hits different.
Her ult is where it peaks. Petrifying Gaze gets this wide red beam with geometric patterns radiating outward. Played maybe 40 games the first week it dropped and I remember catching a Katarina mid-E in river around 2 AM on a Tuesday. The R animation froze her in this perfect frame. Clean.
Recall animation has Cassiopeia interfacing with some kind of Eternum tech pod. Short and sharp, nothing too flashy but it fits. Voice lines stay base, no new VO. Karen Strassman’s original performance carries fine here since the voice filter would’ve been a nice addition but at 1350 RP you cant always get everything.
The Eternum line and where Cassiopeia fits
Eternum as a skinline has always been Riot’s take on cosmic horror meets machine evolution. Eternum Nocturne was the flagship, Rek’Sai got one too. Cassiopeia slots in naturally because her serpentine body translates well into biomechanical design. Released September 20, 2017 – late season 7 if I remember right. The meta was Ardent Censer bot lane and Cassiopeia was seeing decent mid lane play.
Jennifer Wuestling handled the artwork. She captured the vibe perfectly. The splash has Cassiopeia coiled around mechanical tendrils with that signature red glow cutting through darkness. Worth zooming in on the detail work around her face plate. (Random aside: this splash rotated as my desktop wallpaper for like three months straight.)
No chromas available for this one. Zero. Which is a shame because I think an ice-blue or purple variant of the Eternum palette would look incredible on Cassiopeia. But Riot never circled back to add any. The Eternum line in general got limited chroma support compared to newer skinlines.
Should you pick up Eternum Cassiopeia?
Real verdict: this is a strong Epic skin that competes well against Cassiopeia’s other options. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX overhaul alone justifies the price, and the model work is genuinely creative. Could be wrong here but I think the only Cassiopeia skin that clearly beats it is Spirit Blossom, and that came years later with a bigger budget.
For Cassiopeia mains who grind ranked and want something that looks distinct on the Rift, Eternum is a top two pick. The red particles read well in teamfights – your Q zones and W trails pop against most map terrain. When you’re peeling for your ADC or diving the backline with Flash R, the visual clarity actually matters. Season 9 I think or maybe 10 I had a stretch where I climbed from D4 to D2 using almost exclusively Cassiopeia with this skin locked in.
Skip it if you already own Coven or Spirit Blossom and only want one Cassiopeia skin in rotation. But if you main her or even just play her as a counter pick into short-range comps, Eternum Cassiopeia earns its 1350 RP. Shop has it permanently, no vault rotation to worry about. Worth {RP} if you main Cassiopeia, simple as that. The Eternum fantasy is executed well here and the skin aged better than most 2017 releases I can think of.
