First time I saw Jade Fang Cassiopeia load into a ranked game I thought someone was running a custom skin. The jade green palette on a serpent champion just works in a way that shouldnt surprise anyone, but it caught me off guard. Been playing Cassiopeia on and off since season 3 and this skin immediately felt different from base.
What Jade Fang actually changes
For a 975 RP Standard skin this one punches above its weight class. The model swap gives Cassiopeia a full jade serpent aesthetic with gold accents running along her scales. Not gonna lie, the green-on-gold color scheme reads cleaner than some 1350 skins I own. Her hood gets a redesign with ornamental plating that ties into the Lunar Revel theme.
VFX got a refresh here which is rare at this price point. Her Q drops with a jade-tinted poison pool, and the E bolts carry that same green energy. Feels like Riot actually cared about this one. The W miasma has subtle differences too, greener tones that blend into the Rift grass if you’re not paying attention. Playing this skin, the poison trail on her passive movement reads differently against river terrain specifically.
New recall animation as well. Cassiopeia coils up in this regal serpent pose. Short and clean. Voice lines stay base, which is expected at this tier. Karen Strassman’s original VO still holds up honestly so no complaints there.
(Random aside: I used this skin as my phone wallpaper for like three months back in 2013 before I switched to the Eternum splash.)
The Lunar Revel connection and release history
Jade Fang Cassiopeia dropped February 8, 2013. Right in the middle of the Lunar Revel event that year. Joshua ‘HUGEnFAST’ Brian Smith nailed the splash, the composition with the jade serpent motif wrapping around Cassiopeia has this mythological weight to it that most Standard tier splashes dont achieve.
The Lunar Revel skinline is one of Riot’s longest running thematic events. Cassiopeia fits the Eastern mythology angle naturally since she’s literally a snake woman. Might be overthinking it but I think the jade dragon inspiration works better on her than on half the champions who got Lunar Revel skins that same cycle. The skinline peaked around seasons 3 through 7 I think, and Jade Fang sits in that early golden era.
No chromas on this one. Zero. Which tracks for a 2013 release since the chroma system wasnt even a concept yet. Shop has it permanently so you can pick it up whenever.
Should you lock in Jade Fang Cassiopeia?
Real verdict: at 975 RP this is genuinely one of the better value Cassiopeia skins. I’ve played maybe 40 games with it across two seasons in Diamond and the VFX clarity is solid. Your Q and E feel distinct without being distracting. Last Tuesday I was spamming Cassiopeia in ranked and kept coming back to Jade Fang over Eternum because the green particles just read better in teamfights around dragon pit.
If you’re a Cassiopeia main climbing through ranked, this sits comfortably as a top three skin for her. The Lunar Revel theme gives it personality that base Cassiopeia completely lacks. 975 RP feels fair for what you get, especially with the VFX and recall included. Could be wrong here but I think this aged better than most skins from that era. Coven and Spirit Blossom obviously outclass it on raw production value, but Jade Fang Cassiopeia has that season 3 charm that newer skins cant replicate. Worth it if you main her, skip it if you’re just looking for the flashiest option.
