Lunar Guardian Kha'Zix - Splash, Price & Chromas

First game I loaded this skin into was around 2 AM on a weeknight, solo queue Diamond lobby, and the loading screen splash alone had me sold. Not gonna lie, I wasnt expecting Riot to pull off a Lunar Revel Kha’Zix this cleanly. The bug assassin getting a celestial guardian treatment sounds weird on paper. In practice it just works.

VFX and model changes on Lunar Guardian Kha’Zix

Kha’Zix gets a full model overhaul here. Gold and red ornamental armor plating, flowing ribbon details off the claws, and that signature Lunar Revel color palette running through the whole design. The blades have this jade-like edge to them that catches light on the Rift in a way base Kha’Zix never could. Clean stuff.

New VFX across the kit. Q isolation proc has this burst of golden sparks that reads well in teamfights, which matters when you’re trying to pick off the backline and need instant visual confirmation. W fires out with trailing red particles, kinda feels like firework streaks. E leap leaves a brief trail behind, subtle but noticeable when you’re ganking over walls. The evolved abilities push the effects harder, especially evolved W where the slow field gets a proper Lunar treatment with petal-like particles spreading out.

Recall animation is new too. Kha’Zix does this guardian stance with celestial energy swirling around him. Been running this in my ranked games since it dropped in January 2023 and the recall still hasnt gotten old. (Random aside: my duo partner keeps saying the recall pose looks like a Power Rangers morph sequence and now I cant unsee it.)

Voice lines stay base. No VO refresh on this one. Standard for a 1350 RP Epic, so no complaints there. The base Kha’Zix voice fits the predator fantasy regardless of skin theme.

Lunar Revel line and the details

Lunar Guardian Kha’Zix dropped January 26, 2023. Exia Xiaotong and West Studio handled the artwork, and they cooked on the splash. The composition puts Kha’Zix mid-leap with golden energy radiating off his claws against a night sky backdrop. Looks premium for an Epic tier skin.

The Lunar Revel skinline is one of Riot’s longest running thematic sets. Kha’Zix joining it makes sense thematically if you squint. Guardian protector vibes mapped onto a void predator. Could be wrong here but I think the contrast is what makes this skin stand out from the usual Lunar releases.

9 chromas total on this one. Obsidian goes full dark mode and honestly reads cleaner in-game than base, the gold accents pop harder against the black armor. Amethyst shifts the palette into purple territory which fits the void assassin identity better than you’d expect. Resplendent is the odd one out with a blue and green split that I keep coming back to in normals. Not every chroma hits though. Some of the lighter options lose that guardian weight the base skin carries.

Should you pick up Lunar Guardian Kha’Zix?

Straight talk: this sits comfortably in the upper half of Kha’Zix skins. Maybe top three. Played maybe 200 games with it across season 13 and 14, jungle clear feels smooth and the VFX dont clutter your screen during fast combos. That matters when you’re diving carries in late-game teamfights and need to track your Q resets.

Dark Star Kha’Zix still exists as competition and thats a tough comparison. Dark Star has the edge on overall theme cohesion. But Lunar Guardian wins on color variety with those 9 chromas and the VFX feel more polished, more modern. Might be just my experience but the auto attack animations feel crisper on this skin specifically, that ranked game where my Kayn inted early and I had to hard carry from jungle felt smoother on Lunar Guardian than it would have on Mecha or Odyssey.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. If you main Kha’Zix and want something outside the darker skin themes, this is the pick. Skip it if you already own Dark Star and dont care about chromas. For everyone else who one-tricks the bug in Diamond and wants fresh visuals in their rotation, Lunar Guardian Kha’Zix earns its spot.
