Odyssey Kha'Zix - Splash, Price & Chromas

First game I played with Odyssey Kha’Zix was sometime around 1 AM on a Tuesday, fresh off the October 2020 drop. Loaded into a ranked game, invaded their red buff, and immediately noticed the Q felt different. Not mechanically, obviously, but the VFX feedback just hit cleaner. Been running this skin in my Diamond jungle rotation since then and honestly it hasnt left.

What the Odyssey treatment does for Kha’Zix

The whole Odyssey aesthetic leans into that sci-fi bounty hunter vibe, and Kha’Zix wears it well. His model gets a full rework with sleek alien armor plating, glowing energy lines running through the claws, and this deep space color palette that reads really well on the Rift. Not gonna lie, the isolation Q proc looks incredible with the Odyssey particles. There’s this burst of cosmic energy on the target that makes you feel every single execute.

W fires these space-energy spikes instead of the base void needles. Subtle change but noticeable once you start spamming it for poke in river skirmishes. E leap trails cosmic particles behind you, which looks clean when you’re diving the backline in a teamfight. The evolved forms are where it really shines though. Evolved W spreads wider with brighter projectiles and evolved E resets leave this satisfying trail across the screen.

R stealth shimmer got the Odyssey treatment too. The outline effect when you go invisible has that faint blue-purple glow. Played maybe 150 games with this and I still catch myself noticing it. New recall animation is solid, Kha’Zix does this whole portal-opening sequence that fits the space explorer theme. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is fine because base Kha’Zix voice is already one of the better ones in the game.

(Random aside: the evolved wing model on this skin is genuinely my favorite Kha’Zix evolution visual across all his skins. The way the energy wings unfold just looks right.)

Odyssey line and the details

Odyssey dropped October 15, 2020. Sean ‘Raiko’ Tay and West Studio handled the artwork, and they cooked on this one. The splash captures Kha’Zix mid-leap with that cosmic background, looks like something out of a space opera movie poster. Banger splash.

The Odyssey skinline is one of Riot’s more creative universes. Kha’Zix fits naturally as the alien predator archetype in a crew of space adventurers. Might be overthinking it but the Odyssey skins feel like they have more personality than most thematic lines. Kayn, Jinx, Sona all got Odyssey skins too, and the whole set has this cohesive energy.

8 chromas total. Merc is my go-to, that black and red combo makes Kha’Zix look like an actual space assassin. Obsidian runs a similar dark direction but without the red accent. Pearl flips the whole thing bright white which reads surprisingly well against the jungle camps. Could be wrong here but I think Pearl might actually be the cleanest chroma for jungle clear visibility. The rest are solid options but those three stood out across my games this season.

Stacking it against other Kha’Zix skins

Kha’Zix has some competition in the skin department. Mecha is the classic pick. Dark Star goes full void fantasy. Death Blossom has its fans. But Odyssey Kha’Zix occupies this unique space where it’s sci-fi without being over-designed. The particles are noticeable but not cluttered, which matters when you’re trying to track your cooldowns in a late-game teamfight.

Compared to Crystalis Indomitus which came later, Odyssey feels more grounded. Less visual noise. In my Diamond games specifically, I’ve had teammates comment on the skin maybe three times total, which is more than most Epic skins get. One time my ADC asked what skin it was after I ulted through their whole comp in dragon pit. That kind of thing.

Kinda feels like Odyssey is the underrated pick in the Kha’Zix lineup. Dark Star gets all the hype, Mecha has the nostalgia factor, but Odyssey quietly does everything right. The VFX are clean, the model is sharp, the chromas add real variety.

Should you buy it?

Verdict time. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on every ability, solid recall, strong model redesign, 8 chromas for variety. If you’re a Kha’Zix one-trick or even just someone who jungles regularly, this belongs in your rotation. Been daily driving this for multiple seasons now and I keep coming back to it over his other options.

Skip it if you already own Dark Star and only play Kha’Zix occasionally. But for mains? Top pick for Kha’Zix mains, especially if you grab the Merc or Pearl chroma. The Odyssey fantasy just works on a space predator bug, and the gameplay feel is noticeably better than base. Worth the RP, no question. Spammed this in Diamond for two splits and dont regret a single game.
