First time I saw Odyssey Yasuo load in, I thought someone modded the game. The whole space rogue aesthetic hit completely different from anything Yasuo had at the time. Been running this skin on and off since it dropped in 2018, and honestly not gonna lie, it still holds up against skins that came out years later. Something about the sci-fi samurai concept just works for Yasuo in a way that feels natural instead of forced.

What Odyssey Yasuo actually brings to the table

So the big draw here is the VFX overhaul. Every ability gets the cosmic treatment. Q pokes feel sharper visually, the tornado has this energy trail that reads clean in lane. Steel Tempest procs with a bright slash effect that makes hitting those Qs in a teamfight way more satisfying to track. W windwall gets this translucent force field look, futuristic barrier type of deal. Looks good. Functions the same obviously but the visual feedback is tighter.

E dashes leave a brief streak behind. Small change – huge impact. When you’re spamming E through a minion wave to gap close on the backline, the trail effect makes it feel faster even though the speed is identical. Placebo? Maybe. But I think thats half of what makes a skin worth using.

The ult is where it gets interesting. Last Breath pulls them up and you get this cosmic explosion backdrop for the slam. Played maybe 40 games with this skin last month in Diamond and the R animation still catches my eye. The recall animation is solid too, Yasuo does this meditation pose with floating energy orbs. Not the flashiest recall in the game but it fits the whole space wanderer theme.

(Random aside: the loading screen art for this skin has been my Discord avatar for like two years now and nobody has ever commented on it.)

Voice lines stay base. No new VO which is expected at 1350 RP. Standard for an Epic tier skin. The base Liam O’Brien performance carries hard enough anyway so I dont mind.

The Odyssey line and release context

Odyssey Yasuo dropped September 12, 2018. Late season 8. Bo ‘chenbowow’ Chen nailed the splash, the composition with Yasuo standing against that nebula backdrop captures the whole rogue captain energy perfectly.

The Odyssey skinline was one of Riot’s more ambitious thematic pushes. Came with a whole PvE game mode. Yasuo, Malphite, Jinx, Sona, Ziggs, Kayn all got skins in the set. Kha’Zix too if I remember right. Could be wrong here but I think Odyssey Yasuo was positioned as the flagship of the line, the main character of that event’s storyline.

6 chromas total for this one. Obsidian turns the whole outfit dark, almost gives Nightbringer vibes at a fraction of the price. Tanzanite hits this deep purple space mage look that I keep coming back to. Pearl goes clean white and gold, probably the most popular one I see in my games. The rest are Ruby, Sapphire, and Rose Quartz. Obsidian is my go-to though, the contrast against the Rift just reads better in teamfights especially around dragon pit.

How it stacks up against other Yasuo skins

Real talk though. Yasuo has too many skins at this point. Nightbringer exists. Spirit Blossom exists. Truth Dragon exists. So where does Odyssey fit? I’d put it firmly mid-tier for Yasuo specifically, which still means it’s a good skin overall. The VFX are clean, the model is distinct, the chromas add value.

Locked in Odyssey Yasuo for about three weeks straight around patch 8.19 when it first came out. Everyone in solo queue was running it. Season 9 I think, or maybe still late 8, the novelty wore off when Nightbringer dropped. But I circle back to it every few months because the aesthetic is just different enough from his other options.

If you’re a Yasuo one-trick with a big skin collection, this is a rotation piece. If you only own one or two Yasuo skins, there’s better options at 1350. But if the space theme clicks for you specifically, Odyssey delivers. Seen maybe 5 of these in my ranked games all season which means you wont run into mirror skin situations often.

Should you buy Odyssey Yasuo?

Verdict time. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New particles on every ability, solid recall, clean model, 6 chromas if you want variety. Shop has it permanently so no rush. The Odyssey line aged well compared to some other event skins from that era.

Skip this if you already own Nightbringer or Spirit Blossom and only want one Yasuo skin in rotation. But for mains who want coverage across different aesthetics, Odyssey fills the sci-fi slot that nothing else in his catalog touches. Not his best skin full stop, but a strong Epic that earns its price. Last Tuesday I swapped back to it from Inkshadow just because I missed the Q particles. That probably says enough.
