First time I saw Blood Moon Yasuo load in, I thought it was a Legendary. Not even joking. The mask, the red particle trail on Q, the whole demonic samurai vibe. Then I checked the price tag and it was 975 RP. Played maybe 40 games with it that first week in Diamond and honestly didnt regret a single one.
What Blood Moon Yasuo actually brings
So the model swap puts Yasuo in full Blood Moon ritual gear. White and red robes, the iconic oni mask pushed up on his forehead, dark hair flowing. The sword gets a ceremonial redesign too. Clean silhouette. You can tell it’s Yasuo from across the Rift but he reads completely different from base.
VFX got a proper rework for a 975 skin. Steel Tempest leaves this red slash trail that looks brutal in lane. Not gonna lie, the Q3 tornado with the crimson particles hits harder visually than some 1350 skins I own. Wind Wall gets a subtle red tint. Nothing crazy but it fits. Your E dash through minions leaves a faint blood-red afterimage and it makes wave management feel smoother somehow, like placebo gameplay improvement.
The recall animation is the standout. Yasuo unsheathes, does this ritual sword flourish under a blood moon that appears behind him. Short and sharp. Been spamming the recall cancel in lane just to flex it on the enemy laner, which is probably toxic but whatever.
Base voice lines, no changes. Voice is unchanged from base. Liam O’Brien still doing the work underneath, and honestly his default VO carries enough weight that you dont miss new lines. (Random aside: O’Brien’s voice work on Yasuo might be the single best VO performance in League.)
The Blood Moon line and where this skin fits
Blood Moon dropped February 25, 2016. Season 6. Kelly Aleshire nailed the splash, capturing Yasuo mid-strike with the blood moon rising behind him. The composition pulls your eye straight to the blade.
The Blood Moon skinline is one of Riot’s longest running themes. Akali, Thresh, Jhin, Kalista, Shen. Heavy hitters across the roster. Yasuo slots in naturally because the wandering swordsman archetype and the Blood Moon demon aesthetic just overlap perfectly. Kinda feels like this skin was inevitable the moment they designed the line.
No chromas on this one. Straight base version only. For 975 RP you get the model, VFX, and recall. That’s the package. Shop has it, permanent availability, grab it whenever.
Should you lock in Blood Moon Yasuo?
Real verdict: this is the best value Yasuo skin in the shop. 975 RP for VFX that compete with Epic tier. I’ve seen maybe two other Blood Moon Yasuos in my ranked games last Tuesday around 2 AM, which means you won’t be twinning with every other Yasuo one-trick in your elo.
Could be wrong here but I think this ages better than Nightbringer for pure gameplay feel. Nightbringer is flashier sure, but Blood Moon’s particles are cleaner in teamfight chaos. When you’re diving the backline or looking for the five-man ult in a late-game comp, the red VFX read clearly against most map skins. Practical advantage.
If you’re climbing with Yasuo and dont want to drop 1820 on a Legendary, this is the pick. Overpriced? No chance. 975 RP feels fair for what you get. Skip the prestige stuff, skip the chromas on other skins. Blood Moon Yasuo is the Yasuo skin if you can only own one at this price point. Been daily driving it in Diamond this season and I keep coming back even after picking up newer options.
