First time I saw Blood Moon Elise load in, the splash alone sold me. Red and white kabuki-style mask on a spider queen. Kinda feels like Riot knew exactly what they were doing pairing Elise with the Blood Moon line. The aesthetic just fits her kit better than most champions in the roster, and I’ve been playing Elise on and off since season 4.
What Blood Moon actually changes on Elise
So this is a 975 RP skin, Standard tier. Keep that in mind. You’re not getting a full legendary overhaul here. Base voice lines, no new VO. But what you do get is genuinely solid for the price point.
The VFX rework is the standout. Her Q in human form gets this deep crimson particle trail that looks way cleaner than base Elise. Neurotoxin hits different visually. Spider form Q keeps the red theme going, and honestly its one of those skins where the abilities just feel smoother even though the gameplay is identical. Placebo? Maybe. But I’ve landed more cocoons since switching to this skin and I’m not taking that back.
W spiderlings come out with the Blood Moon color scheme. Red-bodied little demons crawling across the Rift. Not sure if it’s just me but the spiderlings feel more visible to enemies too, which could be a slight competitive disadvantage if you’re trying to sneak them through brush for vision. Minor thing.
The recall animation is new and it works. Elise does this ritual-style pose with the Blood Moon mask motif. Clean execution. Simple change – huge impact on how the skin feels in-game between fights. After a gank top lane or clearing raptors, hitting recall with this animation just has weight to it.
E cocoon keeps the red particle theme. Rappel in spider form looks good dropping down with the crimson trail. Three things stood out after about 40 ranked games: the human Q particles, the recall, and how the spider form model looks against Summoner’s Rift terrain. The red pops against the green and grey.
Blood Moon line and the details behind this one
Blood Moon Elise dropped January 8, 2015. Mid season 5. Alex ‘alexplank’ Flores nailed the splash, the composition with the mask fragments and spider legs in the background is genuinely one of the better Blood Moon splashes in the entire line.
The Blood Moon skinline is one of Riot’s longest running thematic sets. Shen, Akali, Thresh, Kalista, Yasuo. Elise fits right in. The demonic Ionian festival theme translates perfectly to a champion who literally transforms into a giant spider. Been maining Elise with this skin on and off since it released and the Blood Moon fantasy holds up even now, over ten years later.
No chromas on this one. Zero. Which at 975 RP isnt surprising, Riot rarely goes back to add chromas to older Standard skins. Voice pack is base only. (Random aside: Sydney Rainin-Smith’s base Elise VO is underrated, the spider form lines still give me chills in quiet moments between camps.)
Shop has it. Permanent availability, you can grab it whenever.
Should you buy Blood Moon Elise?
Real verdict: this is the best Elise skin for the price. Full stop. 975 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX changes carry the skin hard, and the thematic cohesion with Blood Moon is stronger than most of her other options.
If you’re an Elise one-trick climbing through Diamond or just someone who jungles with her in ranked, this skin is worth locking in. Played maybe 200 games with it across multiple seasons and I keep coming back. Last week around midnight I hit a three-game Elise win streak in solo queue running this skin and the jungle clear just felt right.
Could be wrong here but I think Blood Moon edges out even Bewitching and Withered Rose for pure gameplay feel. Those skins look great in splash but Blood Moon Elise reads better in teamfights. When you’re diving the backline or rappelling over a fight to pick off their ADC, the red particles track cleanly. Real talk though, if you already own Coven Elise you might not need this one. But at 975 RP? Hard to argue against it. Top pick for Elise mains who want something that doesnt break the bank but still looks premium on the Rift.
