First time I saw Death Blossom Elise in loading screen I thought it was a custom skin somebody modded in. The whole flower-predator thing caught me off guard. Played against one in a Diamond ranked game maybe season 4 or 5 and immediately looked it up after. Something about Elise wrapped in petals instead of webs just works in a way I wasnt expecting.

The VFX and what actually changes

For a 975 RP Standard tier skin, you get more than the usual recolor treatment. New VFX on Elise’s abilities give everything a botanical spin. Her Q in human form shoots out this petal-laced projectile, and the spider form Q lunge has a subtle floral trail. Not groundbreaking stuff, but noticeable.

The model itself leans hard into the venus flytrap aesthetic. Elise’s human form dress is built from layered flower petals, deep reds and purples. Spider form gets the same treatment. The spiderlings look like little plant creatures, which honestly is a nice touch that most people probably miss in teamfights. Could be wrong here but I think the spiderlings are the best part of this skin visually.

Voice lines stay base. No new recall animation either, so dont expect the full package. But the VFX additions at this price point? Solid. Playing this skin, the botanical particles on E rappel especially pop against the Rift’s green backdrop. Been running this in ranked whenever I go jungle Elise and the cocoon VFX reads a little differently than base, which some people say messes with enemy reaction time. Placebo probably. Still feels good.

Death Blossom line and release context

Death Blossom Elise dropped October 26, 2012. Right around her champion release actually, so this was a launch skin. Season 2 era. Michelle Hoefener nailed the splash, capturing that half-beautiful half-terrifying duality Elise is supposed to have. The splash has her surrounded by these carnivorous flowers and it reads like a dark fairy tale illustration.

The Death Blossom skinline is small. Kha’Zix got one too. Not sure if it’s just me but I always thought Riot left money on the table by not expanding this line further. A Death Blossom Zyra would print cash. (Random aside: the splash is genuinely one of the better pieces from 2012, it aged way better than most skins from that patch cycle.)

No chromas available for this one. Shop has it at 975 RP, permanent availability. For a skin from late 2012 with actual VFX work, thats a reasonable ask. I remember picking it up during a sale back in like season 7 or 8 for half price. Absolute steal at that point.

Should you pick up Death Blossom Elise?

Real verdict: if you main Elise and you’re climbing through jungle, this is a clean option. Not her flashiest skin. Blood Moon and Bewitching Elise both came later with more production value. But Death Blossom Elise has a charm to it. Old school. Simple change – huge impact on the feel.

975 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX carry the skin past basic recolor territory, and the model redesign commits to the theme fully. Took this into ranked for maybe 30 games last month and it still holds up against newer Elise skins. Might be overthinking it but there’s something about the older skins that just feel less cluttered on screen. Fewer particles, cleaner reads during ganking and dive sequences pre-6.

Skip it if you already have Coven or Bewitching. But if Death Blossom Elise is your first Elise skin purchase? Good starting point. Top pick for Elise mains who want something different without dropping Legendary money.
