Bewitching Elise

Not gonna lie, when Riot dropped a Halloween Elise skin I thought it was the most obvious pairing they’d ever made. Spider queen plus witch aesthetic? Felt like it shouldve existed since season 3. Played my first game with it around 2 AM the night it hit the shop, and the whole vibe just clicked. The purple and orange palette reads perfectly on the Rift, especially during those late-game teamfights where you’re diving the backline and everything gets chaotic.

What Bewitching Elise actually brings to the table

This is an Epic tier skin so you’re getting new VFX and a fresh recall animation. Voice lines stay base, no changes there. The Q in human form fires off with this ghostly purple particle trail that looks way cleaner than default. Her W sends out a little spectral spider with jack-o-lantern energy, and the E cocoon wraps targets in what looks like enchanted webbing with faint orange sparks.

Spider form is where it gets fun. The transformation itself feels smoother visually. Her spiderlings wear tiny witch hats. Tiny. Witch. Hats. (random aside: I showed this to my duo partner and he switched to Elise jungle for like two weeks straight because of those spiderlings.) The rappel animation has this cool purple mist trail as she descends, and her auto attacks in spider form have a satisfying orange glow on impact.

Recall animation has Elise stirring a cauldron with her spider legs while bats circle around her. Simple concept but executed well. Could be wrong here but I think this might be one of the better recall animations in the Bewitching line overall. The cauldron bubbles with green liquid and theres a pumpkin sitting next to it. Clean details.

The Bewitching line and release context

Bewitching Elise dropped October 22, 2020. Right in the middle of season 10. Viktoria Gavrilenko and West Studio handled the artwork, and they captured Elise’s predatory elegance while leaning hard into the witch fantasy. The splash has her perched on a giant web with jack-o-lanterns hanging from silk threads below. Gorgeous piece.

The Bewitching skinline is one of Riot’s seasonal staples at this point. Elise fits it naturally, maybe more than any other champion in the lineup. She’s literally a spider sorceress. The witch hat and gothic dress combo works because it doesn’t fight her base design, it extends it. Been running this in Diamond during every Halloween event since it came out and I still dont get tired of it.

8 chromas total. Amethyst leans into the purple mage fantasy harder than base, which I appreciate. Meteorite goes dark brown and gives the whole skin an earthy corrupted look that reads well against Summoner’s Rift grass. Pearl is the cleanest option if you want something lighter. Legacy vault skin, so you’ll need to wait for the yearly rotation or get lucky with Hextech crafting.

Should you buy Bewitching Elise?

Real verdict: 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX overhaul is solid, the thematic fit is perfect, and those spiderling witch hats carry more weight than they should. Kinda feels like this skin was designed by someone who actually plays Elise. Seen maybe 5 of these in my games all season, which is a shame because it’s genuinely one of the better Elise options.

If you main Elise or even just pull her out for jungle occasionally, Bewitching Elise is worth picking up next time it rotates back into the shop. The Bewitching line suits her better than almost any other skinline she’s been part of. Top pick for Elise mains, especially if you grind ranked during the Harrowing events. That ranked game where my Kayn inted three times pre-6 and I still carried on this skin? Peak Elise experience. The skin just makes you want to hit those cocoons.
