Withered Rose Elise

First time I saw Withered Rose Elise load in, I thought someone was playing a different game. The gothic romance aesthetic on a spider champion just works in a way I wasnt expecting. Locked this skin in for maybe 30 ranked games straight back in February 2022 and it never got old. Elise already has that elegant predator vibe in her base kit, but the Withered Rose line takes it somewhere darker and more deliberate.

What the skin actually changes

Human form Elise gets this decayed ballroom look. Think dead roses woven into dark fabric, thorned accessories, the whole gothic bride energy. Her model swap is clean. Spider form keeps the theme going with petal-like textures on the legs and a deep burgundy color palette that reads well on the Rift.

VFX got a full rework for an Epic. Her Q in human form sends out this thorny rose projectile, and spider Q has matching particle trails. W cocoon replacement looks like a bundle of withered petals. Honestly the E rappel is where it shines though. Dropping down from rappel with the new particles just feels satisfying, especially when you’re diving the backline at dragon. Been spamming this in Diamond on and off since it dropped and the ability clarity is solid.

New recall animation too. Elise does this thing with rose petals swirling around her before the transformation. Short and sweet. No new VO though, voice lines stay base. Not gonna lie, I think custom voice lines would have pushed this into must-buy territory, but for 1350 RP you’re getting a complete visual package.

The Withered Rose skinline and release context

Withered Rose dropped February 10, 2022. Late season 12 launch window. Marie Magny and West Studio handled the artwork, and they captured something really specific with the splash. Elise sitting in this destroyed garden, spider legs emerging from behind her. One of the better composed Elise splashes if you ask me.

The Withered Rose line is Riot’s take on dark romance fantasy. Sits alongside Withered Rose Syndra, Talon, and Zeri. Kinda feels like they designed this skinline with Elise in mind first and built outward. The theme fits her champion identity better than most of the roster. Crystal Rose is the light counterpart, but Withered Rose has more personality.

9 chromas total. Obsidian is my pick, goes full dark widow aesthetic and the deep black reads perfectly against jungle camps. Rose Quartz softens the palette into something almost pastel which is a weird choice for a spider queen but it works. Paragon chroma has this icy blue-purple gradient thats exclusive to the prestige path. (Random aside: the Obsidian chroma is genuinely my desktop wallpaper, the color grading is that good.)

Should you buy Withered Rose Elise?

Real verdict: if you play Elise jungle at all, this is competing for her best skin. Blood Moon Elise held that crown for years but Withered Rose gives it a serious challenge. The VFX clarity during ganking and teamfights is noticeably better than base, and the spider form model is the cleanest she’s had.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. Full VFX overhaul, new recall, strong chroma selection. Could be wrong here but I think the only thing holding it back from perfect is the missing voice filter. Every other Elise skin at this price point has the same limitation though so its not unique to Withered Rose.

Shop has it permanently. No vault rotation to worry about. Last Tuesday I played against an Elise one-trick running the Citrine chroma and even from the enemy perspective the abilities read clean in lane and in teamfights. Skip this only if you’re already locked into Bewitching Elise or Coven. For everyone else maining Elise this season, Withered Rose Elise is the pick. Worth 1350 RP if you main Elise, full stop.
