Locked in Inkshadow Yasuo the week it dropped and honestly wasnt sure what to expect. Yasuo has so many skins at this point that a new one needs to do something different or it just blends into the pile. This one does something different. The whole ink-wash aesthetic hits a vibe none of his other skins touch, and after running it in ranked for a solid month I kept it in rotation way longer than I planned.

The ink brush VFX carry this skin

Not gonna lie, the first thing I noticed was the Q. Each thrust leaves these ink splatter trails that dissolve like wet calligraphy on paper. Looks clean in lane and even cleaner in teamfights where you’re stacking Q on multiple targets. The tornado (Q3) launches with visible brush strokes trailing behind it, which reads well for both you and whoever you’re about to knock up.

W wind wall gets the ink treatment too. Instead of the usual blue barrier it’s this translucent scroll-like wall with ink patterns rippling across it. Functional change? Zero. But the visual clarity is actually better than base in my experience. Easier to track the edges.

E dashes leave small ink stamps on the ground. Subtle. Most people wont notice in the chaos of a teamfight but when you’re dashing through a minion wave it creates this satisfying trail of marks. Been spamming this in Diamond mid and the dash trails are one of those details that grow on you over time.

R is where the budget went. Last Breath slams down with massive ink brush calligraphy erupting around the target. Big dramatic strokes that fade like they’re being painted in real time. Played maybe 30 games one weekend just to see the ult animation from different angles. (Random aside: I screenshot the ult freeze-frame and it genuinely looks like concept art.)

The recall animation fits the theme perfectly. Yasuo does this meditative sword draw with ink swirling around him. Short, stylish, no filler. Voice lines stay base, same VO as default Yasuo. For an Epic at 1350 RP thats expected.

Inkshadow line and the context around it

Released May 3, 2023. Right around MSI that year, which explains the DEFY MSI 2023 chroma that came with it. The Inkshadow skinline pulled from East Asian ink wash painting and I think Yasuo fits it more naturally than most of the other champions in the set. Kinda feels like this theme was designed with him in mind specifically.

Nathaniel Himawan and West Studio handled the artwork. They cooked. The splash captures Yasuo mid-swing with ink dragons swirling behind him, brush strokes forming the wind itself. One of the better Yasuo splashes in the whole catalog if you ask me.

10 chromas total. That’s a lot. Obsidian goes full dark ink aesthetic and its probably the cleanest one, reads like a shadow version of the base skin. Tanzanite shifts the palette to deep purple which pairs well with the brush stroke VFX. The Inked chroma does something interesting with a pale blue and green combo that makes the ink effects pop harder against the Rift. Could be wrong here but I think the Inked variant actually has better visual clarity than base Inkshadow in bot lane specifically.

Shop has it. Permanent availability, 1350 RP. Standard Epic pricing.

Where Inkshadow Yasuo sits in the lineup

Real verdict: Yasuo has what, fifteen skins now? Something close. And a lot of them are good. Nightbringer exists. Spirit Blossom exists. Truth Dragon and Dream Dragon exist as Legendaries. So the competition is brutal.

Inkshadow Yasuo carves out its own lane though. If you want something artistic and understated instead of flashy anime energy, this is the one. The ink brush VFX feel distinct from every other Yasuo skin and the recall is clean without being over the top. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get.

Skip this if you already own Spirit Blossom or Nightbringer and you’re happy with them. But if you main Yasuo and want variety in your rotation, Inkshadow earns a spot. Been my go-to Yasuo skin since around season 13 and I keep coming back to it over the Legendaries some nights. That ranked game last Tuesday where my Kayn inted three kills pre-6, at least my Yasuo looked good doing it. Top pick for Yasuo mains who want something different from the usual flashy options.
