Odyssey Aatrox

First game I played with Odyssey Aatrox was around 3 AM on a Tuesday, queued into a Diamond ranked match where my jungler locked in Yuumi. Lost that game hard but the skin carried my mood through the whole thing. Not gonna lie, the sci-fi take on Aatrox caught me off guard when it dropped. Aatrox as a cosmic space warrior felt weird on paper, but Riot pulled it off better than I expected for 1350 RP.

What Odyssey Aatrox actually looks like in game

The model swap is solid. Aatrox gets this deep space armor with glowing orange-gold energy lines running through it. Think intergalactic warlord vibes. His sword transforms into something that looks half plasma blade, half ancient relic. Clean design overall.

VFX got a full rework for this tier. His Q sweetspots light up with these orange cosmic explosions that read well in teamfights. The W chain pulls with a space-energy tether thats actually easier to track than base Aatrox W in my experience. E dash leaves a trail of cosmic particles behind him. Subtle but it makes the ability feel snappier somehow.

Ult is where it gets interesting. World Ender pops off with this massive orange aura and Aatrox grows into what looks like a galactic conqueror. The wings spread with energy trails. Played maybe 40 games with this skin last season and the ult transformation still looks good mid-dive. Voice stays default, no new lines, which is fine because Ramon Tikaram’s base VO already goes hard enough for Aatrox.

Recall animation is new. Worth watching once or twice. He does this dramatic sword-plant-into-the-ground thing with cosmic energy swirling around him. Standard Epic recall quality.

The Odyssey line and where this skin fits

Odyssey Aatrox released October 15, 2020. Mid season 10. Zhong Yang and Kudos Productions handled the splash, they captured the vibe perfectly. The Odyssey skinline is one of Riot’s more creative universe builds. Started with Odyssey Kayn back in 2018 and expanded into this whole crew of space adventurers and villains.

Aatrox fits the villain role in the Odyssey universe naturally. Kinda feels like Riot designed the whole dark antagonist side of the line around champions who already have that destroyer fantasy. (Random aside: the Odyssey event in 2018 was genuinely one of the better PvE modes they ever did and I’m still salty they havent brought it back.)

8 chromas total for this one. Merc is my pick, the black and deep red combo reads like a proper space villain. Sapphire hits different too if you want that cold blue energy contrast against the Rift. Rose Quartz exists for the people who want pink Aatrox and honestly respect that energy. Still in the shop, permanent availability, so no rush on grabbing it.

Is Odyssey Aatrox worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: this is a mid-tier Aatrox skin in a roster that has some bangers. Blood Moon and Lunar Eclipse both compete hard for best Aatrox cosmetic. Could be wrong here but I think Odyssey sits around third or fourth place depending on your taste.

The VFX work earns the 1350 RP price. Q sweetspots popping with cosmic energy, the W tether being more visible in lane, ult transformation looking clean when you dive the backline. All good stuff. Been running this in ranked when I get bored of the darker Aatrox skins and it holds up fine. The orange color palette stands out against most map terrain which helps with gameplay clarity during ganks and skirmishes.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. If you main Aatrox and already own the top picks, this is a strong rotation skin. If you’re picking your first Aatrox skin ever, might want to look at Lunar Eclipse first. But for Aatrox one-tricks who want variety in their skin rotation, Odyssey delivers. Standard Epic pricing, solid execution, good chromas if you want to customize further. Not the best Aatrox skin full stop, but a reliable choice for spamming in solo queue.
