First time I saw DRX Aatrox load into a game I thought it was a custom skin someone modded in. Not gonna lie, the blue and gold color scheme on Aatrox’s massive frame just hits completely different from anything else in his lineup. Locked it in the second it dropped and played maybe 15 ranked games that weekend alone. The Worlds skins always carry this weird energy where you feel like you’re channeling the pro player who picked the champ, and Deft’s legacy behind this one makes it feel heavier than most.

What the DRX skin actually changes

So this is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP, and for that price Aatrox gets a full visual overhaul with new VFX and a custom recall. Base voice lines, no changes there. The model swaps out the usual dark reds and blacks for DRX’s blue, white, and gold palette. Think royal knight vibes but with esports branding woven in. The cape flows clean in-game.

The Q sweetspots are where you really notice DRX Aatrox shining. Each slam throws out blue energy waves instead of the standard red, and the sweetspot indicators feel slightly easier to read against the Rift’s green. Could be wrong here but I think the contrast actually helps in teamfights when everything gets chaotic. The W chain pulls with this sharp blue tether that pops against darker skins on the map. Been running this in Diamond lobbies and the visual clarity on E dash is solid too, leaves a clean trail behind.

Recall animation is the highlight for me. Aatrox plants his sword and you get the DRX logo reveal, standard Worlds skin treatment but they executed it well. Feels earned. Playing this skin, the weight on the auto attacks still carries that satisfying Aatrox thud. No new VO refresh, which is fine because Ramon Tikaram’s base voice work on Aatrox is already one of the best in the game.

The 2022 Worlds line and release context

DRX Aatrox dropped June 1, 2023 as part of the World Champions: 2022 skinline. The whole DRX set was special because nobody expected them to win Worlds that year. Kingen’s Aatrox was a staple pick through the tournament and watching him pilot the champ into the finals is why this skin exists.

Horace ‘Hozure’ Hsu nailed the splash. The composition puts Aatrox front and center with the championship trophy energy radiating off the blade. Its one of those splashes that looks good as a loading screen card without feeling cluttered.

One chroma available, the Elite variant. Gold and deeper blue tones, looks cleaner than the base version honestly. If you’re picking this skin up you want the Elite chroma too. Legacy vault skin so you cant just grab it whenever, gotta wait for the shop rotation or get lucky with Hextech crafting. Seen maybe 4 of these in my games all season which makes sense given the limited availability.

Worth the 1350 RP?

Real verdict: DRX Aatrox sits in a weird spot. The World Champions: 2022 line produced some bangers and some mid entries. This one lands on the upper end. Not sure if it’s just me but the blue VFX on Q feel smoother to play with than Lunar Eclipse or even Odyssey Aatrox. The sweetspot reads are genuinely better in lane.

(random aside: I keep the DRX Aatrox splash as my League client background and dont plan on changing it)

For Aatrox mains specifically, this is a top three skin. Maybe behind Lunar Eclipse for pure aesthetics but ahead of most others in the catalog. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get, especially with the VFX work on all three Q casts. The Elite chroma pushes it even higher. Problem is the Legacy availability, you might be waiting months for a chance to buy it. If it shows up in Your Shop or the Legacy vault opens, dont sleep on it. Last Tuesday I ran into a guy in solo queue with the Elite chroma and it looked incredible in the post-game screen. S-tier Aatrox cosmetic if you can get your hands on it.

Skip it if you already own Lunar Eclipse and only play Aatrox as a counterpick. But if you’re an Aatrox one-trick climbing through ranked, this World Champions skin carries meaning that the flashier alternatives dont have. The DRX miracle run lives in this skin. Worth it for mains, period.
