Locked in DRX Caitlyn the day it dropped and played maybe 15 games straight that first weekend. Not gonna lie, I wasnt expecting much from a Worlds skin. Most of them feel like glorified chromas with a logo slapped on. This one actually surprised me. The DRX branding works with Caitlyn’s silhouette in a way that feels earned, not forced. Clean design, solid VFX, and a recall animation that references the 2022 Worlds run. For 1350 RP, it does what it needs to do.

How DRX Caitlyn looks on the Rift

The model swap leans into DRX’s blue and gold color scheme. Caitlyn’s rifle gets this metallic blue finish with gold accents running along the barrel. Her outfit trades the usual sheriff vibe for something closer to an esports jersey reimagined as actual gear. Kinda feels like Riot found the sweet spot between “team merchandise” and “champion fantasy” here.

VFX are where this skin earns its Epic tier tag. Q sends out this sharp blue projectile trail that reads well in lane. Her traps glow with DRX blue energy on the ground, easy to spot for your team but still threatening. The ult channel has blue particles spiraling around the barrel before the shot fires. Been using this in Diamond ranked and the ult VFX specifically feel crisp to line up on backline targets.

The recall animation is the highlight. Caitlyn celebrates with a trophy reference, nodding to DRX’s miracle lower bracket run at Worlds 2022. If you watched that tournament, specifically the Deft storyline, the recall hits different. Good stuff. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is standard for Worlds skins at this price point.

The 2022 World Champions line and release context

DRX Caitlyn dropped June 1, 2023. Part of the World Champions: 2022 skinline celebrating DRX’s championship win. Horace ‘Hozure’ Hsu handled the artwork, and honestly the splash captures the energy of that finals series. The composition puts Caitlyn front and center with the DRX crest framing the background. Strong piece.

The World Champions 2022 set came out alongside DRX skins for other champs on the roster. Each one represents a player’s pick from the tournament. Caitlyn was Deft’s choice, which makes sense given how hard he carried on ADC that whole run. Season 12 Worlds in general was stacked, and this skinline does a decent job honoring it.

There’s one chroma available, the Elite variant. It shifts the palette slightly, more of a prestige gold tint over the base blue. I think the base version actually looks better in most lighting on Summoner’s Rift, but the Elite chroma has its fans. Legacy vault skin, so you cant just grab it whenever. Hextech only these days unless Riot brings it back for a Worlds event rotation.

Should you pick up DRX Caitlyn?

Real verdict: if you’re a Caitlyn main and you care about esports history, this is a must-own. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX are clean, the recall is meaningful, and the model holds up well in teamfights. Compared to something like Arcane Enforcer Caitlyn or Heartthrob Caitlyn, DRX is more understated. Less flashy. But that’s part of the appeal.

(Random aside: my duo partner is a Deft fan from season 4 and he literally will not play Caitlyn without this skin equipped. Says it’s “disrespectful” to use anything else.)

Could be wrong here but I think Worlds skins in general are underrated by the community. People sleep on them because they’re not as over the top as Legendary releases. But the DRX Caitlyn model is sharp, the blue VFX pop against the Rift terrain, and in my games around 2 AM last Tuesday I got three compliments on the skin in post-game lobby. That never happens with default Caitlyn.

Skip it if you only play Caitlyn for poke in lane and dont care about the backstory. Worth it if you watched Deft finally lift that trophy after years of grinding. The skin carries weight beyond just looking good. Top pick for Caitlyn mains who followed competitive League through season 12.
