Yuubee

First time I saw Yuubee load into my game I thought someone was trolling with a custom skin. A cat in a bee costume sitting on a book that’s also a honeycomb. Riot really woke up one morning and said yeah lets make the enchanter cat into a pollinator. Been running this in my Diamond games since season 11 and honestly the skin just hits different when you’re attached to your ADC buzzing around teamfights like an actual bee. The whole concept is ridiculous and thats exactly why it works.

What Yuubee actually changes on the Rift

So the VFX on this one surprised me. For 1350 RP you get full particle changes across all abilities. Q sends out a little honey bolt that tracks and splashes yellow on contact. Kinda feels like the projectile reads slightly different from base, maybe a hair wider visually, though I know it’s the same hitbox. The W attach has this buzzing particle cloud around your carry which is both cute and slightly distracting for the enemy, at least in my experience.

E shield pops with honeycomb hexagons. Clean effect. R is where the skin really earns its price point – the wave shoots out with this golden honey splash that covers the lane. Not gonna lie, I’ve had games where the R visual made it easier to track the wave width compared to base Yuumi. Could be placebo but I swear by it after maybe 150 games on this skin.

Recall animation is the highlight for me though. Yuumi does this little bee dance with the book and it’s one of those recalls you actually want to watch instead of checking your minimap. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is fine because Cassandra Lee Morris already delivered on the default voice pack. (Random aside: my duo partner refuses to play with me when I lock in Yuumi but makes an exception for this skin because “the bee is less tilting than the cat.” Sure buddy.)

The Bees! skinline and release context

Yuubee dropped March 4, 2021. Mid season 11. Part of the Bees! skinline which is one of Riot’s more committed joke lines. Beezahar, Beezcrank, Bee’Maw – the whole squad. Esben Lash Rasmussen nailed the splash, capturing Yuumi mid-flight with little wings and antenna that somehow look natural on a magical cat.

The Bees! line works because it doesnt take itself seriously. Every skin in the set leans hard into the pun and the honey aesthetic. Yuubee fits the theme better than most because Yuumi’s floaty movement already looks like hovering flight. She was born for this skinline honestly.

8 chromas total. Obsidian is my go-to because the dark bee color scheme reads like a wasp and something about that energy fits ranked. Rainbow is the flex pick if you want to look like a pride parade bumble bee, which I respect. Pearl turns the whole thing white and gold, very clean, might actually be the best looking one if you prefer subtle over loud. The rest are solid but those three cover the range.

Should you buy Yuubee?

Real verdict: if you play Yuumi at all, this is a top two skin for her. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX changes are meaningful, the recall is S-tier cute, and the Bees! theme gives you personality points in champ select. Last Tuesday I had a Draven player in my lobby who said “respect the bee” when I locked this in. Worth the price just for the vibes.

Skip it if you’re not a Yuumi player obviously. Not sure if it’s just me but I think this skin ages better than most of her catalog because the bee aesthetic is timeless compared to something like a tech or edgy theme. Still in the shop, permanent availability, no vault stress. Been daily driving this for five seasons now and I keep coming back to it over her newer releases. Top pick for Yuumi mains, especially if you want something that makes your ADC smile instead of dodge.
