EDG Yuumi

Not gonna lie, when EDG won Worlds 2021 I did not expect Yuumi to get a championship skin. But here we are. Meow picked it in finals and Riot delivered. First game I played with EDG Yuumi was a late night ranked session, maybe 1 AM on a Tuesday, and the VFX immediately felt different from base. Cleaner. The black and red EDG color scheme reads way better on a cat than it has any right to.

How EDG Yuumi actually looks in game

So the model swap is solid for an Epic tier skin. Yuumi gets the full EDG jersey treatment with the black, white, and red team colors. Book gets a makeover too. The whole vibe is esports athlete cat, which sounds ridiculous typed out but it works in practice.

Q poke particles shift to this sharp red energy trail. Way easier to track in lane compared to base Yuumi where the Q just kind of blends into the Rift sometimes. W attach has a subtle EDG logo flash when you hop onto your ADC. Could be wrong here but I think the detach animation is slightly snappier feeling too, though thats probably placebo.

E heal gets red and black particles. Nothing groundbreaking but it matches the theme. R is where the VFX budget went. The waves come out with EDG branding energy and the root proc has a satisfying red burst. Been spamming this in Diamond duo queue and the ult waves genuinely feel more visible to my lane partner, which helps coordination.

New recall animation is cute. Yuumi celebrates with the Summoner’s Cup. Standard Worlds skin recall energy but it fits. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is expected at 1350 RP for a championship skin. Cassandra Lee Morris did the original voice work and it still holds up fine.

The Worlds 2021 line and release context

EDG Yuumi dropped May 12, 2022. Season 12 midpoint. Part of the World Champions 2021 skinline celebrating Edward Gaming’s championship run. Bo ‘chenbowow’ Chen handled the artwork and the splash captures the competitive energy well. Yuumi sitting on the Worlds trophy with that confident look.

The whole EDG set came out together. Graves, Viego, Zoe, Aphelios. Yuumi fits the lineup even if she wasnt the flashiest pick in the finals. (Random aside: I still have the VOD of that finals series bookmarked, Meow’s Yuumi was genuinely clean.)

2 chromas available. Elite goes darker with deep navy and red accents, gives it more of an edgy vibe that I actually prefer over base. Tenfold Triumph is the red and gold variant celebrating EDG’s tenth anniversary or something along those lines. Both are solid but Elite is my pick if you’re grabbing one.

Should you grab EDG Yuumi for 1350 RP?

Real verdict: if you main Yuumi and you care about esports skins, this is a clean pickup. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX on all abilities, new recall, solid model. It sits in that sweet spot where it’s not trying to be more than it is.

Legacy vault skin though, so you cant just buy it whenever. Gotta wait for Worlds events or hope it shows up in Your Shop. Played maybe 40 games with this one across season 12 and 13. Kept coming back to it over Heartseeker and Yuubee because the red VFX on Q poke and ult just read cleaner in teamfights. Might be overthinking it but the darker color palette helps when your ADC is trying to track your ult waves in a messy engage.

Compared to other Yuumi skins, EDG sits mid to upper tier. Battle Principal has the school anime thing going, Bewitching has the seasonal charm. EDG Yuumi is for the competitive crowd. The kind of player who watches LPL and has opinions about support meta. If that’s you, 1350 RP well spent for mains. If you dont care about esports themes, Bewitching or the newer Cyber Cat probably edge it out. But for what it represents and how it plays, no complaints from me. Seen maybe 5 of these in my games all season which makes it feel a bit more exclusive too.
