Shiba Yuumi

First game I played with Shiba Yuumi I almost forgot I was supposed to be enchanting my ADC. The skin turned Yuumi into a Shiba Inu riding a corgi-looking Book and honestly the whole vibe is so distracting in the best way. Been running this as my default Yuumi skin since it dropped in April 2023 and I dont think I’m switching back anytime soon.

What Shiba Yuumi actually changes in game

So this is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP, which means new VFX and a new recall animation but no new voice lines. Voice stays default. The particle work is where this skin earns its price though. Your Q fires out this little glowing dog treat projectile that curves through the lane, and it reads cleaner than base Yuumi Q in teamfights. Not sure if it’s just me but the hitbox feels more visible to my ADC when I’m trying to poke in lane.

The W attach has this warm golden glow now. Paw prints. Actual paw prints trail behind your carry when you’re sitting on them. Played maybe 40 games with this skin last season and my duo kept commenting on the paw prints showing up during ganks. Small detail but it hits different.

E heal throws out these little sparkly bone-shaped particles. Real talk though, the R is the standout. Yuumi’s ult sends out waves of dog energy across the Rift and the root proc has this satisfying paw-stamp effect on the ground. Locked in this skin for a Diamond promo series back in season 13 and the ult VFX genuinely helped me track the wave timing better than base.

The recall animation is pure fan service. Shiba Yuumi does this whole excited dog routine, tail wagging, spinning in circles on the Book. (Random aside: I’ve seen people in ARAM just spam recall to watch the animation and honestly same.) The splash captures the energy perfectly too.

The Cats Versus Dogs line and release context

Shiba Yuumi dropped April 6, 2023 as part of the Cats Versus Dogs skinline. Ina Wong and West Studio handled the artwork, they captured the Shiba energy perfectly in the splash. The whole Cats Versus Dogs concept is one of Riot’s more playful themes and Yuumi fits naturally since she’s literally a cat champion getting a dog skin. The irony writes itself.

8 chromas total for this one. Obsidian is my go-to, the dark fur with golden accents reads like a black Shiba and its cool how much it changes the feel. Amethyst hits a fantasy vibe that shouldnt work on a dog skin but somehow does. Rose Quartz leans into the cute factor harder than base if thats even possible.

Kinda feels like the Cats Versus Dogs line doesnt get enough credit. It’s not trying to be serious lore content. It’s dogs and cats fighting over the Rift and sometimes that’s exactly what you need after a rough ranked session at like 1 AM on a Wednesday.

Should you pick up Shiba Yuumi for 1350 RP?

Straight talk: if you play Yuumi at all, this is a top pick. Could be wrong here but I think Shiba Yuumi is the best executed skin in her lineup for the price point. The VFX are clean, the theme commits fully, and the chromas give you options for months. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get.

The competition in Yuumi’s skin catalog is decent. Bewitching is solid, Yuubee has its fans, and Cyber Cat went a different direction entirely. But Shiba Yuumi has this energy that the others dont match. Been spamming this in Diamond for two splits now and every time I hover Yuumi in champ select someone in lobby comments on the skin. Still in the shop, permanent availability.

Skip this if you never touch enchanter supports. But for Yuumi mains and anyone who queues support in solo queue regularly, this is the one. My Yuumi one-trick friend in our clash team refuses to use anything else since it came out, and after grinding maybe 23 games in a row one weekend I get why. The dog theme on a cat champion is the kind of silly Riot excels at when they lean into it. Worth 1350 if you main Yuumi, no question.
