Corgi Corki

First time I saw Corgi Corki load into my game I thought someone was trolling. A corgi. With goggles. Flying through the Rift dropping bombs. Took me about two seconds to realize this is one of the most committed joke skins Riot has ever shipped. Been running this in ranked since season 9 and the reactions in chat never get old.

What Corgi Corki actually looks like in game

So Corki rides a corgi instead of the helicopter. Thats the whole pitch and honestly it works better than it should. The corgi has this determined little face, ears flapping in the wind, tiny legs going full speed. The model swap is clean. Corki himself gets a dog walker outfit with a treat bag, which is a nice touch nobody talks about.

VFX got a full rework for an Epic. Q shoots out a ball of… dog energy? Hard to describe but it reads well in lane. The W Valkyrie trail leaves paw prints on the ground. Actual paw prints. Played maybe 40 games before I even noticed that detail. R missiles are tennis balls, which sounds dumb on paper but the visibility is fine. Not gonna lie, I was worried the projectile clarity would be an issue in teamfights but everything reads correctly at Diamond level play.

The recall animation is where they went hardest. Corki pulls out a treat and the corgi does tricks. Sits, rolls over, the whole routine. (Random aside: my actual corgi does zero of these things so Riot’s corgi is already more talented.) No new voice lines, base VO stays the same, which makes sense for 1350 RP but a few bark sound effects would have been perfect.

Cats Versus Dogs and the 2019 drop

Released March 27, 2019. Part of the Cats Versus Dogs skinline, which was Riot’s April Fools adjacent event that year. The whole line split champions into cat team and dog team. Corki landed on the dog squad obviously.

Horace ‘Hozure’ Hsu nailed the splash. The composition puts the corgi front and center with Corki looking like he’s having the time of his life. Bright colors, clean lines, good energy. Fits the silly tone without looking cheap.

Cats Versus Dogs as a skinline is underrated. Could be wrong here but I think Riot left money on the table not expanding it further. The pet theme works for League’s roster and the execution across all the skins in the set was solid. Corgi Corki specifically sits at the top of that batch.

7 chromas total if you want variety. Amethyst gives the corgi a purple tint that reads surprisingly well against the green of Summoner’s Rift. Rainbow is the flashy pick, full pastel coat on the dog. Obsidian goes dark and moody which is funny on a corgi skin. The rest are fine but those three get my rotation. Shop has it at 1350 RP, permanent availability so no rush.

Should you lock in Corgi Corki?

Real verdict: this is the best Corki skin for anyone who doesnt take themselves too seriously. If you’re a Corki one-trick grinding cs in bot lane or running him mid for poke comp, this skin just makes the grind more fun. Last Tuesday I had a rough loss streak, four games in a row, swapped to Corgi Corki and the vibes immediately shifted. Something about dropping tennis ball missiles on the enemy backline while a corgi sprints across the map.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. The VFX changes are meaningful, the model is completely different from base, and the recall is genuinely entertaining. Compared to Arcade Corki or Dragonwing, this one has more personality per pixel. Not the most competitive looking skin if you care about that sort of thing. But for solo queue? Been daily driving this for multiple seasons and I keep coming back. Skip the serious Corki skins. Fly the dog.
