Astronaut Corki

First game I played with Astronaut Corki was around 2 AM on a Tuesday, solo queue, and I remember thinking his little spaceship cockpit looked way cleaner than I expected for 1350 RP. Corki skins can be hit or miss honestly. Some of them lean too hard into the goofy angle and you end up feeling like you’re piloting a joke instead of an aircraft. This one hits different though. The space theme actually works for a yordle who already flies around the Rift in a custom machine.

What Astronaut Corki actually changes

So the model swap puts Corki in a full astronaut suit with a rounded helmet visor, and his copter becomes this sleek lunar rover type vehicle. Clean design. The color palette is white and teal with orange accent panels, which reads well against most map backgrounds. Not gonna lie, the silhouette is distinct enough that you can tell it apart from his other skins instantly in a teamfight.

VFX got a full rework for this tier. His Q sends out a teal-colored energy burst instead of the usual phosphorus bomb, and the detonation has these little star particle effects that scatter outward. W leaves behind a trail of cosmic dust rather than fire. Looks good. His E sprays these blue-white particles that feel like thruster exhaust, which makes sense given the astronaut fantasy. The R missiles are probably the highlight for me – they trail little comet tails and the Big One has a noticeably larger cosmic explosion on impact. Been running this in Diamond ranked and the missile VFX are genuinely satisfying to spam in lane.

Recall animation is where the personality shows. Corki plants a flag on the ground like a moon landing, does a little salute. Short and sweet. Base voice lines stay default, no new VO, but thats expected for an Epic tier skin. The sound effects on abilities got adjusted though – everything has this slightly muffled, space-reverb quality that sells the zero-gravity vibe.

One thing I noticed after maybe 30 games: the auto attack particles are subtly different too. Slightly blue-tinted projectiles. Small change – huge impact on how the skin feels during cs phases in bot lane.

The Astronaut line and where Corki fits

Astronaut Corki dropped July 1, 2021. Mid-season 11 if I remember right. Sora Kim and West Studio handled the splash, and they captured the vibe perfectly. The splash has Corki hovering above what looks like a lunar surface with other Astronaut skins visible in the background. Good composition.

The Astronaut skinline is one of Riot’s more consistent thematic sets. Veigar, Bard, Poppy, Maokai all got Astronaut skins and they share this cohesive pastel-space aesthetic. Corki fits naturally because he already has a vehicle fantasy. Where some champions feel forced into the Astronaut suit, Corki was basically designed for it. A yordle pilot exploring space? Makes more sense than half the skinlines they put him in.

8 chromas total for this one. Sapphire is my personal pick because the deep blue cockpit against the white suit looks premium. Tanzanite goes darker with that purple shift if you want something moodier. Ruby exists for the ruby collectors out there but I think the red clashes with the space theme a bit. (Random aside: I keep Sapphire Astronaut Corki as my lock-in skin specifically for when I get filled ADC and want to tilt the enemy bot lane with Corki poke.)

Is Astronaut Corki worth 1350 RP?

Real verdict: if you play Corki with any regularity, this is one of his best skins. Could be wrong here but I think only Corgi Corki competes with it for the top spot, and that one leans way more into humor. Astronaut plays it straighter and looks cleaner in actual gameplay. The VFX on R alone make poking in lane and teamfights feel more responsive.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New model, full VFX overhaul, new recall, adjusted SFX. Shop has it permanently so no vault anxiety. For Corki mains climbing through ranked this season, its an easy recommend. Even Corki one-tricks who already own everything should have this in their rotation. Might be overthinking it but the missile VFX clarity actually helps me track Big One cooldown better than base skin. Been spamming this in Diamond since season 12 I think, and I keep coming back to it over his other options.

Skip it if you only play Corki once a month in ARAM. But for anyone who locks in Corki regularly for mid lane prio or the ADC flex pick, Astronaut Corki is the skin. Top pick for Corki mains, no question.
