Not gonna lie, this skin hits different when you know the history behind it. Red Baron Corki dropped back on March 24, 2010, making it one of the oldest Legendary skins in the entire game. We’re talking season 1 era. Before Baron had a pit rework, before dragon gave stacks, before half the roster even existed. I remember seeing this in loading screens back when I was still figuring out how to cs properly and thinking it looked incredible. Fourteen years later? The charm is still there but the price tag tells a very different story.
What you actually get with Red Baron Corki
Here’s where things get complicated. Red Baron Corki carries the Legendary tag at 1820 RP, but this was made in an era where “Legendary” meant a different model and maybe some sound tweaks. No new VFX. No new recall animation. Voice lines stay base. By 2026 standards thats a rough deal when you compare it to what modern Legendaries deliver.
The model itself swaps Corki’s helicopter for a red triplane. World War I ace vibes. The propeller spins, the wings have that classic biplane look, and Corki sits in there with goggles and a scarf like he’s about to dogfight over the Rift. Solid concept. The color palette shifts to deep reds and browns, giving the whole thing a vintage military feel that stands out against the usual bright chaos of a teamfight.
Been running this in my Diamond games occasionally just for the nostalgia factor, and I’ll say this: the silhouette reads well. You can tell it’s Corki from across the lane, the triplane shape is distinct enough. But when you Q or ult, you’re getting the same base particles. Same rockets, same Phosphorus Bomb visuals. Played maybe 15 games with it last month and the lack of VFX changes really shows in 2026. Every other Legendary in the game has custom ability effects, new voice lines, unique recall. Red Baron has none of that.
Could be wrong here but I think this is the single biggest gap between price and delivery in the entire skin catalog. The W package trail is unchanged. The E gatling looks identical to base. You press R and the same missiles come out. For context, Spirit Blossom Kindred at the same price point gives you a completely reimagined kit visually. Night and day.
The Legacy vault and what that means
Red Baron Corki sits in the vault. Legacy catalog skin, so you cant just walk into the shop and grab it. You’re either waiting for a Legacy vault opening event, rolling it from Hextech chests, or getting lucky with Your Shop. Loot exclusive these days for most players.
March 2010 release puts this firmly in the early League era. Season 1 hadn’t even started its competitive scene properly. (Random aside: I had a friend who bought this at launch thinking Legendary meant it would get updates over time. Still salty about it.) The skin predates the Corki visual update, and while Riot did touch up the model during that rework, it still carries that old-school feel. No splash artist credited in the data, which tracks for skins from that era when Riot’s art pipeline was much smaller.
The Legacy skinline connection is interesting. Riot basically uses this tag for skins they’ve pulled from permanent rotation. Some Legacy skins are rare collector pieces. Red Baron falls into that category. Seen maybe 4 of these total in ranked this entire season. Real talk though, scarcity doesn’t equal quality.
Who should care about Red Baron Corki
This is a collector’s skin. Pure and simple. If you’re a Corki one-trick who wants every skin in the collection, Red Baron Corki has value as a rare piece. The triplane fantasy is unique, nothing else in his lineup does the WWI aesthetic. And there’s something to the vintage factor. Loading into a game with this equipped tells everyone you’ve been around the Rift for a long time, or at least you respect the history.
But if you’re looking for bang for your buck at the Legendary tier? Skip it. Arcade Corki at 1350 RP gives you more visual changes. Astronaut Corki delivers the full modern package. Corgi Corki exists and is genuinely one of the funniest skins in the game. All of those cost less and offer more in terms of actual gameplay feel.
Kinda feels like Riot should retroactively drop Red Baron to the Epic tier and adjust the price. They’ve done it before with other old Legendaries. Magnificent Twisted Fate got the treatment. But until they do, this stays at 1820 RP for a skin that delivers maybe 975 RP worth of content by modern standards.
Might be overthinking it but the real value proposition here is flex factor. Last Tuesday in a ranked game, my ADC locked in Corki with Red Baron and our whole team in chat was like “wait that skin exists?” That reaction alone might be worth it for some players. The surprise factor is real when nobody sees a skin for months at a time.
1820 RP is a steep ask. For Corki mains who already own the modern options and want the full collection, it’s a nice trophy. For everyone else climbing through Diamond spamming Corki mid, your RP is better spent elsewhere. The triplane model is clean, the concept is timeless, but the execution belongs to a different era of League entirely. Legacy vault skin with Legacy-era features. Fair price for the package back in 2010, overpriced for what you get in 2026.
