Woof and Lamb Kindred

First game I played with Woof and Lamb Kindred, my duo literally typed “why is your Wolf a puppy” in chat. Thats the whole pitch. Riot took the eternal hunters, the embodiment of death itself, and turned them into pets from a Saturday morning cartoon. Not gonna lie, I was skeptical when this dropped in April 2023. Kindred mains take their champion seriously. The duality of life and death, the masked lamb, the shadowy wolf. Now Wolf is wearing a collar and panting. But here’s the thing: it works way better than it has any right to.

What Woof and Lamb Kindred actually changes

The model rework is the star here. Lamb gets a full dog-themed outfit with floppy ears on the hood, and Wolf becomes this round cartoon puppy spirit that follows you around. The Q dash leaves little paw print particles on the ground. Cute detail. Wolf’s W zone has a different color palette, softer blues and playful energy instead of the usual spectral dread. The E mark pops with a small bone icon before the proc hits, which I think is a nice touch for tracking your damage in a teamfight.

Played maybe 200 games with this skin across Diamond and I keep noticing small stuff. The passive mark on jungle camps has a paw indicator. The ult zone, Lamb’s Respite, gets a dog bowl aesthetic around the edges. Could be wrong here but I swear the R circle reads slightly differently than base in terms of visual clarity. Not better or worse, just different enough that your team sometimes hesitates before stepping in.

New recall animation is solid. Lamb plays fetch with Wolf. Simple concept, clean execution. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, which is standard for an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP. The base voice acting from Marcella Lentz-Pope and Matthew Mercer is strong enough that I dont mind keeping it.

The Cats Versus Dogs line and release context

Cats Versus Dogs is one of Riot’s goofier skinlines. Released April 6, 2023, right in the middle of season 13. Horace ‘Hozure’ Hsu nailed the splash for this one. The composition has Lamb in a park setting with Wolf chasing a ball, and it captures this wholesome energy that’s completely at odds with Kindred’s lore. Banger splash honestly.

The Cats Versus Dogs theme fits Kindred better than most champions in the line. Lamb and Wolf already have the duo dynamic built into the kit, so making one a cat person and the other a dog person (well, both dogs here) feels natural. Kinda feels like Riot designed the whole skinline just to make this joke work.

8 chromas total. Obsidian is my go-to because the dark fur on Wolf reads clean against the Rift, especially in river fights around dragon. Sapphire turns everything into this deep blue that hits the mage fantasy harder than you’d expect on a jungler. Rose Quartz is the popular one in my games, seen it maybe four or five times last month in Diamond alone. (Random aside: my friend who one-tricks Kindred refuses to use any chroma because she says base Woof and Lamb is “peak design” and I respect that even if shes wrong.) Shop has it, permanent availability, grab whichever chroma speaks to you.

Should you buy Woof and Lamb Kindred?

Real verdict: this is a top pick for Kindred mains who want something lighter. Spirit Blossom Kindred is still the prestige option if you want elegant and serious. Porcelain Kindred leans into the refined aesthetic. Woof and Lamb is for when you want to gank bot lane with a cartoon puppy and not feel bad about marking their ADC for death.

1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX across the kit, a fun recall, strong splash art, and 8 chromas if you want variety. Been running this in ranked since about last Tuesday and the skin just hits different when you’re invading enemy jungle at level 3. The paw prints on your Q dash are a flex. Not a competitive advantage obviously, just vibes. Best Kindred skin for people who dont take themselves too seriously. If you’re climbing through Diamond and want your pre-6 ganks to at least make people smile before Wolf eats them, this is the one.
