First time I saw Super Galaxy Kindred load into my game, season 6 I think, I had to double-take the splash. Kindred already has one of the coolest base designs in the entire roster and turning Lamb and Wolf into mecha pilots felt like a risk. Played maybe 40 games with it that first month. The skin grew on me hard.
What Super Galaxy Kindred actually brings to the table
So this is an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP. New VFX across the board, new recall animation, but no new voice lines. Voice stays default. For the price point thats pretty standard, Riot wasnt handing out new VO for 1350 skins back in 2016.
The Q dash leaves behind these bright energy trails that read way cleaner in teamfights than base Kindred. Honestly not gonna lie, I think the W zone is where the skin shines hardest. Wolf’s territory gets this electric blue boundary that pops against every Rift terrain type. Could be wrong here but the Wolf attacks inside the zone feel snappier visually, like there’s more weight to each hit. Not a gameplay difference obviously, just perception.
E mark on a target has that classic Super Galaxy glow to it. Three hits and the proc detonation looks satisfying. Clean burst visual. The R though. Lamb’s Respite drops this dome that looks straight out of a mecha anime. Big holographic barrier, very Gurren Lagann energy. Been running this in Diamond and the ult circle is genuinely easier for teammates to see compared to base, which matters when you’re trying to peel in a chaotic dragon fight.
Recall animation has Lamb and Wolf doing this synchronized mecha pose thing. Short and sweet. Nothing crazy but it fits the theme. The auto attacks have a slightly different particle trail too, subtle but noticeable when you’re clearing jungle camps at 2 AM on a Tuesday.
The Super Galaxy line and where Kindred fits
Released May 25, 2016. Right in the middle of season 6 when Kindred was still a legit jungle pick before the nerfs hit. Christian Fell did the splash, they captured the mecha aesthetic without losing Lamb and Wolf’s identity. Good balance.
Super Galaxy as a skinline pulls from the super robot anime genre. Think bright colors, exaggerated poses, lots of energy effects. Rumble was the original Super Galaxy skin and honestly set the bar pretty high. Kindred slots in alongside Fizz, Nidalee, Elise, Shyvana, and Gnar in the lineup. Not sure if it’s just me but Kindred might be the best executed of the set after Rumble. The dual character design of Lamb and Wolf gives the mecha theme more to work with than a solo champion.
No chromas available for this one. Zero. What you see is what you get. The base color scheme is heavy on blue and white with orange accents, very classic super robot palette. (Random aside: my friend who watches nothing but Gundam literally bought this skin just for the color scheme and he doesnt even play Kindred.)
Shop has it. Permanent availability, 1350 RP, no vault rotation or loot exclusivity to worry about.
How it feels in actual ranked games
Kindred jungle clear with this skin feels good. The VFX on Q resets during camps give you solid visual feedback for kiting. Took this into a ranked game last week where I was tracking their Kayn through his jungle and the bright particles actually helped me keep track of my own cooldowns in the river skirmish that broke out near raptors. Small thing. Matters though.
Ganking with Super Galaxy Kindred, the E mark is visible enough that laners can react to your engage timing. Pre-6 ganks feel the same as base mechanically but the visual clarity is a genuine quality of life bump. Late-game scaling into teamfights, the ult dome being more visible helps your comp coordinate. Had a game in Diamond last season where my ADC actually walked into my Respite because the Super Galaxy version was easier to spot than base. Saved the fight.
One thing I’ll note: if you’re a Kindred one-trick deciding between this and Spirit Blossom, they serve different vibes entirely. Spirit Blossom is elegant and ethereal. Super Galaxy is loud and anime. Personally I rotate between both depending on mood but if I had to pick one for pure gameplay clarity, Super Galaxy edges it out.
Real verdict on Super Galaxy Kindred
Verdict time. 1350 RP feels fair for what you get. New VFX that genuinely improve visual clarity, solid recall, strong thematic execution. No new VO holds it back from being a must-buy but for an Epic skin from 2016 it still holds up remarkably well. Kinda feels like Riot put extra care into Kindred skins because the dual character gives them creative room.
Worth 1350 if you main Kindred. If you’re just picking her up for jungle variety, maybe wait for a sale or check Spirit Blossom first. But for Kindred mains who want something different from the mystical forest hunter vibe, Super Galaxy is the answer. Spammed this in Diamond for two splits and keep coming back to it. The mecha fantasy hits different on a marksman jungler.
