Super Galaxy Shyvana

First time I saw Super Galaxy Shyvana load in, I thought someone modded the game. The mecha aesthetic on a dragon champion just works in a way I wasnt expecting. Locked this in during a late night ranked session around 3 AM and the VFX genuinely caught me off guard. Shyvana already has that dive-heavy playstyle, and slapping a full mecha suit on her makes every engage feel like piloting a Gundam into the backline.

The mecha dragon fantasy and what it changes

Super Galaxy Shyvana replaces the traditional dragon theme with a full-on sentai mecha look. Think power rangers meets Rift. The model itself is clean: bright reds and blues with metallic plating across the armor. Her W activation surrounds her in this energy field that reads really well in teamfights, which matters when you’re trying to track your own champion in a clustered dragon pit fight.

Not gonna lie, the Q feels punchier with the new particles. Twin Bite gets these mechanical impact sparks that make every proc feel heavier than base. E throws a projectile that looks like a laser cannon rather than fire breath. Solid change. The ult is where Riot put the budget though. Shyvana’s dragon form transforms into a full mechanical dragon, and the leap animation has rocket thrusters firing on the way down. Been running this in my Diamond games for a while now and the R transformation still hits different every time.

Could be wrong here but I think the recall animation is one of the better ones at this price point. She does this mecha pose sequence that feels straight out of an anime transformation scene. Base voice lines stay the same, no new VO, but honestly the visual package carries hard enough that you dont really notice.

Super Galaxy line and release context

Released May 25, 2016. Mid-season 6. The Super Galaxy skinline was already established with Rumble being the star of the line, and Shyvana fits the theme naturally. Dragon champion getting a mecha dragon skin is the kind of obvious play that Riot sometimes nails.

Xu ‘Crow God’ Cheng handled the artwork. The splash captures that explosive mecha energy perfectly: Shyvana mid-transformation with energy radiating outward. (Random aside: this splash would make a sick desktop wallpaper if it was wider resolution.) The Super Galaxy line has a specific color language with those bright saturated reds and deep blues, and Shyvana’s version commits fully to that palette.

No chromas available for this one. Kinda feels like a missed opportunity since a dark colorway would look incredible on the mecha frame. But it is what it is. Shop has it for 1350 RP, permanent availability, so no rush to grab it.

Where it sits among Shyvana skins

Real verdict: this is the best Shyvana skin if you want something that feels completely different from her base fantasy. Ice Drake Shyvana leans into the elemental angle, Darkflame goes edgy, but Super Galaxy is the only one that fully reimagines what Shyvana could be. For an Epic tier skin at 1350 RP the VFX package is generous.

Played maybe 40 games with this across two patches last season and the clarity is good. In lane specifically the W circle reads cleanly against most terrain, and the E projectile is distinct enough that enemies can react to it fairly. No pay-to-lose issues here. Might be overthinking it but the auto attack animations feel slightly smoother than base, probably just the visual feedback tricking my brain.

For Shyvana mains climbing through jungle, this skin makes your ganks look more threatening. That sounds dumb but there’s something about a mecha dragon diving your lane pre-6 that hits harder psychologically than default Shyvana. Worth 1350 RP if you main Shyvana. Skip it if you only pull her out for ARAM, but for anyone with 50 plus games on her this season, top pick for Shyvana mains. The skin just does what it needs to do and does it well.
