Ice Drake Shyvana

First time I saw Ice Drake Shyvana load in on the enemy team I thought it was a completely different champion. Not gonna lie, the ice theme on a dragon lady just works in a way I wasnt expecting. Locked this in during a late night ranked session, maybe around 1 AM on a Tuesday, and the blue fire VFX alone sold me before I even finished my first jungle clear.

The ice treatment on Shyvana’s kit

For a 975 RP skin, Ice Drake Shyvana punches above its weight class. The model swap turns Shyvana into this pale frost dragon hybrid with icy blue armor plating. Clean design. Her human form reads well against the Rift backdrop, which matters more than people think when you’re tracking teamfights.

The VFX are where Riot actually put in effort here. Her W leaves this cold trail instead of the standard fire, and the Q proc has a satisfying icy crack to it. Kinda feels like playing a different element entirely rather than just a recolor. Her E breath attack shifts to a frost beam visual that I think looks better than base Shyvana honestly.

Dragon form is the real star. When you ult into the backline you get this massive ice dragon that feels intimidating in a way base Shyvana doesn’t. Been running this in Diamond for a couple seasons now and the dragon transformation still looks solid even by 2026 standards. The recall animation is a nice bonus too, she does this frost explosion thing. Voice lines stay base, no new VO, but the visual package carries hard enough.

One thing that bugs me specifically: the ice particles on W can sometimes blend into the river. Had a game last week where my Kayn pinged me thinking I was already in river when I was still topside. Minor complaint but worth noting if you play a lot of Shyvana in the jungle.

Ice Drake Shyvana dropped April 29, 2013. Season 3 era. Katie ‘TeaTime’ De Sousa nailed the splash, the composition with the frozen wasteland background sells the fantasy perfectly.

Part of the Blackfrost skinline, which Riot has built out over the years into one of their more consistent thematic sets. Shyvana fits naturally into the ice dragon archetype. The Blackfrost line tends to lean darker and more corrupted, but Ice Drake keeps it relatively clean. More “frost warrior” than “corrupted by ancient ice” if that makes sense.

No chromas available for this one. Standard tier at 975 RP. (Random aside: this is one of those skins where I genuinely forget it’s a 975 and not a 1350 because the VFX work is that solid.) Shop has it, permanent availability, so no rushing to grab it during some vault rotation.

Should you pick up Ice Drake Shyvana?

Real verdict: if you main Shyvana or even play her as a pocket pick in your jungle pool, Ice Drake is the best value skin she has. 975 RP feels fair for what you get. Could be wrong here but I think this outperforms several 1350 RP skins from champions released way later. The dragon form alone in a late-game teamfight where you’re diving their ADC makes the skin worth it.

Spammed this in Diamond through season 12 and 13. Still hold up. The Blackfrost theme gives Shyvana an identity that her base skin lacks, and for mains who want to one-trick her through climbing, this is the pick. Skip it if you already have Super Galaxy since that one edges it out on pure flashiness, but for the price point? Hard to argue against 975 RP. Top pick for Shyvana mains who want clean VFX without dropping Legendary money.
